My poor mum - She's off to clarify things with the elders

  Last night my parents came around for dinner. Mum is a JW, dad is not. Things were going fine everyone was getting along nicely.

  Mum happened to mention some people she knew who want to go to Gilead. With out even thinking I straight out asked her: "What is this I have heard about Bethel laying off around 1500 of their workers in Brooklyn?"

  She gave me a blank look. Then she goes something about they have moved the printing presses to Australia Bethel now and that's probably why. Then she said that Brooklyn Bethel are trying to keep things simplified.

  So again without thinking I said well if they are keeping things simplified why on earth would they be constructing a new building in Brooklyn?

  She said she has no idea. I saw that she was astonished because she had no idea that this was going on. And more astonished that I did know. Anyway she says she will find out for me. She has bookstudy tonight and she is going to ask her conductor who I think is either the Presiding Overseer or the Service Overseer. I am interested to see what he says.

  Luckily she didn't ask where I got my info from...

  HA HA miss peaches! ITIS used to do that to me when I was still a dub and it drove me crazy how he had the scoop on everything and he wouldn't tell me where he had gotten his info. now I know where he got it, and I also like to bring things up to JW's and see there reactions when they haven't heard the latest news. I too, have spoken without thinking about certain things and then wanted to instantly take it back in case they asked me where I got my info...

  funny!

  it will be interesting to see what she finds out....

  Sounds like an interesting conversation coming up, as the elder probably won't know much either, but can't afford to appear to be ignorant of the info, so he will blah blah blah as elders do to make out they know everything.
  It must astound some people when the ex dubs know more about what is going on than they do!! Go JWD!!!!

  I think now that I have broke the ice I might continue to quiz her about stuff. Sort of that 'poke, poke, poke' effect until she finally cracks and begins to switch her brain on again.

  Would that be the DUMBO project? Down Under Manhatten Bridge Organization. That I believe is an organization that opposed the new construct by the WTS. Last I heard it was a housing building for Bethel - but that makes no sense at the moment does it?

  Exactly! That's why I think I blurted out asking about it. I don't understand why they would be building new constructions???

  The people at the top usually keep the R&F in the dark on issues concerning the purchase, sale or construction of new properties for this multibillion corporation, after all why should they know they are not shareholders. They only think of them as assets to be exploited.

  You don't have to reveal your sources. Journalists don't, why should we? You can just say "Someone close to the action. I promised not to name names."

  Chances are that the elders don't know anything either. Wouldn't it be a hoot if all of a sudden the young people in the congregations who are being pressured into not going to college or quitting university so they can prepare for Full Time Service™ or Bethel Service™ are finding out that they have no future in the Organization™ either? They may as well go to college/university and learn a profession where they can have some opportunities.
