Do you have good memories from your childhood when it comes to the meals your mother served you? What did she give you to eat when you were ill?
Your childhood meals.

OMG No. Most "family" meals resulted in tears, terror and trouble
My mother was a country girl. Lots of stew which I still have a problem eating.
And lots and lots of pasta which I still love

Not really. I don't blame mum though - big family and not much money.
If I didn't finish my meal it would stay on the table until I did. When I was ill I got soup and bread as that's easy to eat and nutritious.

Mum was a great cook. I remember always eating really yummy food. We were always involved in helping out in the kitchen as well. I really enjoy cooking and think the kitchen is the heart of the house. I am sure this is due to my upbringing.
Entertaining is one of my favourite things.
When we were sick it was chicken noodle soup... home made.

No, my mother was an average cook, and there weren't many memorable meals.

My father is a great cook, or at least he enjoys cooking. Poor dad.
When I was really young, normally we would have lentils with rice on Mondays (which I still love and make on Mondays!) chicken and rice, spaghetti and meatsauce, baked chicken and potato, steak and fries on the weekend or chicken soup. Occasionally we would have a fish dinner, like once every other week, or pork chops.
I was just thinking about this today. As I was sitting idle for a moment at my desk at work I suddenly had a craving for fried liver with onions! I kind of liked it, even as a small child.
When I was sick, a soft boiled egg in a porcelain cup and toast was what I usually had.

Wish I could cook like my mother...the only thing she ever served that I don't have fond memories of was baked Spam...otherwise, wish I could cook like my mother...when I was sick tomato soup with a little lemon juice, sometimes honey mixed into apple cider vinegar...

My mom was a very good cook and also very experimental. We had all sorts of yummy "traditional" meals but she also made different ethnic foods. She also was into health food before most others. I really miss her cooking. It was so cozy.

My mother was a wonderful cook. She gave us gingerale or ginger drinks when were too ill to eat. When we got better, she served us split pea soup with ham and saltine crackers. Lately I wish I had her bran muffin recipe. She baked them only for Thanksgiving. They had dried apricots and walnuts in them. Yummy.

when i was sick i got chicken soup, like most kids, and neo-citron, he he...
my favorite thing my mom made was tacos. still my favorite, i have no idea why. i love all sorts of other exotic foods now, but my moms tacos are still my favorite. it must be psychological in nature beyond taste sensation, because i think there are some other foods that are technically tastier now, but those tacos...... yum.
