I loved Edinburgh when I went. I thought it was the most beautiful city I had ever visited. Its not just a tourist trap, its stupendously breathtakingly beautiful.

I would definately go. Architecture is second to none, shopping is great, nightlife is really good fun, theres a FAB vodka bar, and a REALLY cute italian who works in a leather shop!

But dont bother with Glasgow, its shite! (KK runs for cover)

Glasgow has EXCELLENT SHOPPING, much better than edin with its twee tartan shops !!! Plus you don't get constantly hassled men with blue faces dressed up as William Wallace trying to lure you into some tourist trap. Sure it has some nice architecture but then so does Glasgow and as I've said before the people in Glasgow are so much nicer, so much more down to earth, salt of the earth types as opposed to the slightly snobby em bri's

    I bit again didn't I, oh

    Lol

Yes ive been to the vaults . A "brother" suggested i go when i was in edinburgh and both of us went along. It is obviously a bit commercialised but still worth the visit as strange things have been reported there. I got a little bit scared in one room as i suddenly realised i was the last one to leave that room . it was apparently the room with the most activity and i just wanted to get out because it was pitch black.

but all in all it is worth it and i recommend you go for a pint in the pub attached to it as they have turned some of the cellars into wee drinking holes. You will be guaranteed to see something after a good drink lol.

Spot on - I'm a veritable human salt cellar myself.

It's true. When FF goes into the woods, she has to be wary of the deer who love to come up because they think she's a salt lick. She told me that she doesn't really mind them licking her except for the fact that it tickles.

"salt of the earth"? You mean "common."

In interests of fairness... Glasgow and Edinburgh are both great cities, not as different as chalk and cheese but with enough differences to make them both great places. Visitors to Glasgow may have to look a little harder to find its good points compared to Edinburgh's immediate visual impact, and social inequality may be more apparent in the city centre than in Edinburgh's but it's still well worth spending time in. The fact that Glasgow's pleasures take a little more effort to find probably makes them more satisfying.

    lol! I'm a laaaydeee!!!

Nice summation there - it's the differences that make them interesting.
