Blondie, Was the opening or closing song about the HOUSE TO HOUSE and DOOR TO DOOR, sing songy lilt, the dar the dar the dar the dar Jehovah's word we speak, and when they don't listen at least we know jehovah's word we spoke, the dar the dar the dar the dar, and after the song few Kingdom publishers actually meet for the dar the dar the dar door to door knock three times on the ceiling if you want me.

Great Comments you will not hear unless Blondie herself was doing the Watchtower conducting

Blueblades, first on line for the cd edition of all the "Comments You Will Not Hear". This will be a collector.

So soporific today.. when one has definately vowed never to darken anybodies door with the "Good news" again, why discuss it? But one or two points.

Seems they need to stimulate things , don't the figures prove that? All the younger ones , seemed content to just offer literature and leave it at that .They are told to be "attentive flexible, and resourceful in preaching" - yes, but that takes effort! It takes real concern and interest in what you are doing. Most of the ones I used to work with [me included] used to present the message just as it came out , then blame the householder for not being interested.

Talking of figures, an interesting statistic in isolation in p16 "each week 5000 new ones are baptized" , may be true but lets see the full picture when the chart is in study article in a few weeks time

Flexible...less educated and more superstitious...easy to follow

How could anyone be less educated than JWs who denigrate higher education?

    Ha! Blondie-1.

    GB-0.

So true about the comments concerning how JW's seem to think that if you one can't speak english than they must be uneducated. That was obvious in some of the comments. Can't tell you how many times those in the cong. would 'slow down their words' for my father to catch up.

About 5,000 new ones are being baptized--and 1,500 or more are leaving.

WoW! That just made my day! There's hope yet.

6 Paul was attentive to the beliefs and background of his listeners

My thoughts on this is think about all the 'wonderful' resources the GB would provide you to talk to those of a different faith. Ha! You would get about a page long of info on different religions such as Muslims, Catholics, even Atheists but that's all you're allowed to go by. No outside material allowed.

Paul. The guy had some serious mental issues. My theory is he was some fanatical, mentally unstable cuckooo who never got any from the "women of the land" and it made him bitter.

Somewhat like a modern-day bi-polar disorder perhaps? One day he's praising the christian congregation and the next day he's encouraging stone throwing at the local gypsy.

"Five Common Fallacies-Don't Be Fooled by Them!

And that is why I am not going today, even though the goober CO is in town.

I am NO longer fooled by the logical fallacies, circular reasoning and threats that are dished out under the guise of spiritual food at the proper time.

My goodness that was a long article, but great blondie commentary in between.

What can we learn from Paul's example

that can help us to be more effective in our preaching and teaching?

It was so rare that anyone came into the Org through the door to door ministry. In the last 5 years I was involved I can count only a few people who were baptized from the "field." A man who had been on drugs and then went back on drugs and was Dfd. An older woman who was a serious alcoholic, who dried up for a bit (maybe) and got baptized and is now no longer a witness and back to being an alcoholic again. There was another older man who was learning disabled and he died shortly after he was baptized. Besides there were the witness kids who got baptized--all before 18 and 95% of those have left now. Most of these kids were raised JW and had been extensively trained in the doctrine, so you can see how un-effective the JW teaching program has been even amongst its own. And, hey we all left too... The WT is losing it.

The WT has been trying to market themselves in the US in non-English speaking market, but there are only a handful of JWs who are attempting to learn a foreign tongue to reach these ones. There are fewer and fewer zealous JWs these days in the US, where I believe most of the WT donations come from. The economy here is down and people are working more to make ends meet. In general JWs do not have the best paying jobs being that the majority don't have the education. The mormons will out live the JWs. Not because their doctrine is any better, but because they do encourage higher education--the Brigham Young University is a top notch institution. Lots of financially successful mormons out there who continue to donate to their religious cause. The WT has built its house of very flimsy material and will continue to have less and less support amongst its followers--financially and otherwise.

Blondie, I've been a faithful reader of your weekly WT Study thread for a long while. I just want to say "Thank You!" for this thread. I'm not a baptised JW, but I grew up in a nest of them, (close relatives, aquaintances and most painful of all my only sister). The relatives and aquaintances don't really want anything to do with me, but I'm desperate to keep some contact with my sister....she still talks to me from time to time, go figure. I am fearful of the day when that will end.

Anyway, reading your WT posts keeps me in touch with the propaganda she is taking in each week.

Yes been and commented a few times - I was also WT reader. Fairly predictable study - not too boring but quite predictable - as one would expect from a scripted question and answer study

    Prime example right here!

It seems that their example of Paul using the 'master-slave' relationship has backfired on them!

This was a great quote you found, Blondie:

    *** w03 2/15 p. 31 Questions From Readers ***

Just like a servant who attentively observes his master's hand in order to discern the indication of his will, Jehovah's people today carefully fix their eyes on the progressive Bible-based instructions that Jehovah gives through his earthly organization.

That about sums it up. The WTS organization thinks it's the master, and it can snap its fingers and have all its followers come running like slaves. Wow.
