non-information

What was/is one of the most annoying things for me at the meetings, was the amount of non-information that the watchtower gives.

It is like rading the entire WT or whatever book and all that they basically say is like: preach more, or whatever.

When you look at the (mirrors of) the quotes site, you see very few interesting quotes of the last 25 years or so. Just because they basically do not say anything at all.
Do you feel the same way?

Welllll....there's information and then there's information!

Once upon a time I sat down with a WT and started highlighting out (black marker) everything that seemed to be purely introductory, any generalizations, summaries, you know, all the stuff that says nothing. I literally threw down the magazine in disgust; there was barely a word left unhighlighted, certainly nothing left that made sense!

On the other hand, the parts that I deleted ARE the information! They were the phrases that WT comes back to several twists and turns later and says See? We knew this was coming and we warned you all along!

Danny, you have it backwards. You think Witnesses go to meetings to GET information? Nope! Somebody gets information from the meetings, but it ain't the Witness people.

    1) The witnesses get information, but the most discriminating things are more on a hear say basis.

    2) The repeating of the "basic stuff" is information only not knowlegde

I just wonder how they can do it, to say actually that little on all important issues

I noticed that when I was a JW how boring everything was their approach was to constantly repeat what should be done by the R&F but they never did anything to help them in doing those required things.

I have to say it. Do you get tired of eating? No because you need the food. LOL I am funny

I used to be amazed when, especially after conventions, dubs would comment, "oh, proper food at the proper time". The last time a dub said that to me, I got in trouble for commenting that nothing new was discussed--it was all old stuff that we had discussed repeatedly (and recently even). This is one of the things that clued me into the fact that they do not pursue truth. They in fact ignore truth by disconfirming any negative info about the org, while exaggerating or confabulating the positive aspects of the org.

Even among some of the R&F it is a joke. When my family asks about what a meeting or watchtower was about we always reply "God's kingdom." or "Jehovah."

    IMustBreakAway,

    yes I noticed that too.

    conversations go like this:
brother: "this was really the best convention ever"
    Me: "What did you learn?"
    brother1: "About jehovah"
sister1, with a smile : "to go more in the fieldservice"

I think they rally must try very hard to avoid all the information. The must examine and re-examine all material, in order to let not a single new idea escape.
