Usually the Service Committee handles this, but all of the elders are supposed to discuss this at their biannual elders meeting. Though I doubt this happens.
The last bookstudy I was in was awesome.
2 couples in their 70s, one sister age 65, one sister aged 85, one single brother age 40. My mother, my grandmother, and me.
Just imagine the fun I had.
Well, at least goody night kicked ass.
A lot of times, this is a very hot topic.
All the elders, or at least those who conduct a bookstudy do not want certain members on their study.
Although most of the time it is regional, all living close by, you see for some reason exceptions (the one that elders come up with for some reason)
then when the list is made public, the publishers are mostly not happy and start discussing it. You notice that after a half year or so, changes are made again. Some publishers can''t stand eachother and are not willing to be on the same CBS. This gives the elders headaches again...
danny
You are all wrong - the Service Overseer puts the Book Study Groups together supported by the Service Committee - the SO is given a lot of latitude. The body of elders is then merely informed - this is in writing somewhere and I will; get a URL to you when I get time
Oh, so I take it the Holy Spirit DOES NOT direct the bookstudy groupings?
