I in no way was trying to say that Christians are the only ones that have been persecuted. I know all kinds of people from different ethnic or religious backgrounds have been persecuted down through history for all kinds of reasons. And yes, I know many who claim to have been Christians have done evil things. All I was bringing out is the discrepancy between what the JWs teach and what the bible actually says and to me it just proves how misleading the organization is. I apologize if I offended you in any way.

I also wanted to say that I am sorry that you have had some bad experiences with people who say they are Christian. Obviously, anyone can claim to be a follower of Christ, but if they don't treat people like he told us to and if they don't show love to others, you have to wonder if they are just Christians in name only (false). I have met both kinds. Jesus taught that his followers were supposed to be peace loving, humble and gentle. People who were trying to force their "christian" beliefs down peoples throats and were persecuting and killing others, could not be "true" followers of Christ in my opinion. My heart aches for anyone in the world who is suffering persecution, whether they are Christian or not. As you mentioned, I think about the native American Indians and what happened to them, it is very sad.
What I was trying to say in the original post, is that I have not found anywhere in the new testament where Jesus or anyone else states that Christians will be persecuted for Jehovah's name, but that is what the organization teaches. Do you know of anywhere were it says that? I never remember hearing at the hall that I would be persecuted for Christ's name, even though that is what Jesus himself says will happen in the new testament. I was only trying to point out how blind I was because I didn't really pay attention to what they were teaching or if it matched up with the words of Jesus.

From where I stand...there are many religions who claim to be Christian and doing good in the name of Christ...BUT are they, when what you see is tells you different? Perhaps they are not Christians at all with Christian hearts and minds. As far as I know: A true follower of Jesus Christ would not persecute anyone.

When witnesses are persecuted it is not because of the name of Jesus Christ its for not conforming to the governments requirements such as buying a political card. The persecution that was inflicted in the USA was not because of the Christian stand they were taking! My father told me about using the phonograph at the door and we still have some of the records & the player. The sermons that were played at the door attacked other religions and beliefs. No wonder they got ran out of town.
