Matthew 12:40b says: "So shall the son of man be three days and THREE nights in the heart of the earth." If someone on this site were to say that Jesus was 'in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights' would some helpful soul reply with a correction? Does this Bible verse need to be corrected?
Is there a problem with Matthew 12:40?

Remember, "resurrection" is "according to the Scriptures".
- " three days and three nights " according to Jonah 2:1.
- " on the third day " according to Hosea 6:2f.
While the Synoptic Passion narratives settled on a Friday-Sunday scenario, there were obviously other versions around (e.g. the Johannine connection with Passover which is one day earlier than the Synoptics).
