    PBJ says...

i no plenty of jws who are happy

Me too... mostly the ones on Prozac, Zoloft, Paxill, Zyprexa, Sertraline, lithium, Valium, etc., etc., etc.,

btw, pbj... I have never in my life known a "pioneer" that upon intimate conversation did not reveal that they had deep and lasting mental issues...primarily depression. It's a sham for most...

Metatron, I think you are spot on.

BTW... I grew up with some of those kids you see spread out bloating in the sun dead. Those pictures made me cry.

If you count how many JWs put off doing things that they would love to do, but instead are waiting for the New System™ to do them, in order to Seek Kingdom Interests First™, I would venture to say that this phenomenal volume of "unlived" lives among JWs, too, is a form of suicide and/or martyrdom.

The "putting things off" is a major part of the lifestyle of a JW---if they are "loyaly and obedient" (tm) to the Watchtower. Living in this constant state of "waiting" until the so-called New Order arrives, decade after decade, does make JWs downhearted whether they want to admit this or not.

Along with that typical JW mindset, there is the sad and miserable fact that there are many JWs who are beginning to feel the pressures OF the WTS-indoctrinated ratrace existance....and are emotionally, spiritually and mentally simply just giving up.

I live in a tiny village and don't have access to "news" in bigger cities and bigger KHs, but in the ten years before I left the WTS in '99, I personally knew of four JWs who took their own life, and one that I strongly suspect had done the same although no one would admit it.

One was recenty DFed for the second time, and the rest were all "in good standing". There aren't that many JWs around here, and if THIS is any ratio of JWs committing suicide as compared to the national (or even worldwide) average, this is horrendous to even think about! From my standpoint, I think there is an overwhelming problem. Of course we don't see THAT in the annual WTS reports, now DO we?

Keep convincing yourselves, JWs, how HAPPY you are....you may have to fall back on this delusion in the near future.

I can anticipate that the Watchtower will deal with this problem in the most direct method possible. They'll simply disfellowship the depressed ones BEFORE they commit the act. That way, the number of suicides amongst the JW's will remain low, while continuing to keep the congregation "clean".

I see a similar response to fraudulent Jehovah's Witnesses. By the time they get convicted, they ain't JW's no more.

Exactly, then they will say they went to the dogs and killed themselves because jehovah rejected them [Heb 10:26-27]

jgnat: Bravo ! excelent point. That is what they do. Watch the poor soul suffer, don't help them, because they have to walk the walk, and when they see they go down, they KICK THEM OUT FAST !! So the stat of "HOLY borg" is Clean !

Who they are: good shephers or... WOLFS WAINTING FOR meal?

They wont even have to do that. If you miss out in "service"™ for a month you are no longer a true witness because everyone knows you got to get your time in (weekly) or jehober is going to kill you. Thirty short days and you can off yourself without bring reproach on jehobahs name or his organization.

Yeah absolutely, my parents are two of them, and all their friends. It's sad for them, but the end of the equation is, they're adults, they have thinking capacity, and they made their own choices. I'm out, I'm chronically happy, and so glad I won't become them.

Regarding Metatron's post: I'm not an expert but I do have a BA in Psychology. I had a pc crash and lost my links to some material on this issue. JW's have up to 40 times the rate of mental illness than the general population. Depression is one of the most common mental disorders. I myself had my daughter raped at the age of nine until she was 13. The elders covered it up and I lost my temper. My criticism of the WT cost me my wife, who moved out a few years after we found out. She took my daughter, who was then 16. I have seen her once in the last 3 years and I moved from NJ to FL to live with a family member when I couldn't stay there anymore. She is now 20 and has gone through several bouts of eating disorders, cutting herself, and other things. She barely finished high school at the age of 20. I was on medication for 4 years and still am. I was in therapy for 2 years. If NJ had more liberal gun laws, I would absolutely have killed myself. I am now safe from that in FL since I am better, at least not suicidal. Most JW's are "the walking dead", no matter what they say or how they act at the hall. It's just a mask. They are all afraid to speak their doubts since they don't want to be DF'd.

Most of the posts here, except for the person who needs therapy himself, have been right on the money. JW's have no lives, no matter what they think. College, better jobs, everything mentioned already is lost to them. They plod through life chasing a dream. There is no vitality in their spirit, they are like the character in the book "1984" after the "thought police" got through with him. I usually post longer than this, but I think everyone before me said it quite well. Thank you.
