Is it the guy who has a gun to somebodies head trying to force them to do what he wants, or the guy who convinces him to put away the gun? Who is the most powerful of the two?
Can being curious outweigh the desire to control, threaten, and punish others? Which is a stronger desire?
Any thoughts?
My that is a thought provoker but my first thought would be a Convincer. Don't ask my why because i am not sure why i think that ,probably something to do with jws teachings.Yet they do in a way put a gun to your head . I am really going to have to take sometime to think on this.
I would also like to add....If a person came along who could do this, and exposed our "leaders" corruption to the public. They would not hesitate in finding and taking out the OBL behind it. BUT, if it is a threat that does not directly affect them or their power and control over people, they will then choose to target the suicide bombers at the bottom. Getting more control and money for themselves in the "process". I am in awe, they are really smart, "wise" men, and I see why they are in control of us.
Funny...."don't shoot the messenger" came to mind just now.....
A person convinced against his will is unconvinced, still.

Let's say you're a native, raised in some remote village, and you contract a disease that requires inocculation to survive. Your witch-doctor has told you from infancy that anything sharp punctured into your body let's in an evil spirit and you will die. Some unknown doctor comes to your village and tells you otherwise and that a neetle will save your life. Do you think he could reason you out of your religious conviction? Would you be mad at him if he threatened you at gun point and made you take the vaccine so that you lived while others around you died? Would you have to be forced at gunpoint to take another vaccine if you were faced with a similiar situation in the future? You can only convince the convincable. Truth at gun-point is still the truth.
So it has to be his choice or "will" correct? What he WANTS to do? Nice point Doc....

SHOOTIST, Nice point as well....There is more to what you said though. I think I need to dwell on that a little longer. It is like you are doing it for their own good to save their lives, but after you prove it, they will never have to have a gun to their heads again?
I think you may have touched on something very big there. Could you start a new thread about it, so we can get some more feedback on that? I would but, I cannot start another thread until tomorrow.

If using a threat is the only way to convince someone then a good convincer will have recognized this. It may just depend on how much convincing is needed. Also, for a threat to get the proper result it has to be believed to be real (convincing).
