Cassegrain...Australian Wine, French tradition.
Situated on the Pacific Highway just south of Port Macquarie on the New South Wales mid-north coast, Cassegrain Wines is a wonderful place to visit for a taste of tradition.
Our winemaking heritage began in France in 1643. A heritage of French winemaking skills combined with Australian technology is practised today by John Cassegrain, using that “savoir faire” (the know how), to produce a wide range of Premium, Reserve and Limited Release wines that are full flavoured, yet soft and elegant. Cassegrain 2004 Shiraz Aromas of leather and spice introduce our 2004 Shiraz. This wine is deep garnet red in colour and combining with classic Shiraz spice characters, it displays aromas of ripe black plums. The medium weight palate exhibits the same delicious flavours and comes together with a subtle hint of charry oak adding complexity to the wine. -

The Cassegrain Winery is the ideal setting for all occasions, from a romantic wedding to a casual picnic, featuring extensive grounds, a formal garden with picnic areas and boasting over 2000 stunning rose bushes lining the entrance to the winery. The sweeping lawns of the Oval, set within the vineyards, forms a natural amphitheatre where a number of concerts are held each year. I will confess I was drinking Napa Valley Silver Oak the other night - wonderful - but not Australian.
I got to visit this vineyard when I did a very quick Napa tour. I agree - wonderful!

I've done that tour. By the time you get from one end to the other and "sampling" all the various wines.....yer bout half baked! It was when I worked for the pharmaceutical company and we were in Napa for our quarterly meeting. There were about 10 of us and we rented a limo. The only way to go in my opinion! Had a blast! But yes, we felt good by the time dinner came around.
