The Watchtower is failing in it's stated purpose contained on the inside cover of every issue.

"It keeps watch on world events as these fulfill Bible prophecy"

Really? When was the last time you read an article that discussed current world events and how they are related to bible prophecy? Instead the only thing they have to say are broad, general comments about wars, famines, etc to say that we are in the last days. When does the Watchtower ever talk about the Iraq War, North Korea, Al Qaeda, the Iran situation, Russia, China, American imperialism and the oil-agenda, globalism, etc, and how all these things may be related to bible prophecy? Instead their is a palpable wimpiness, timidity, hush-hush feel about the magazines these days. They are afraid to go out on a limb anymore, other than dishing up the same old general 'the end is at hand' crap. Other religious journals and websites have a lot more to say about current world events than the Watchtower Society.

"It comforts all peoples with the good news that God's Kingdom will soon destroy those who oppress their fellowmen and that it will turn the earth into a paradise."

Really? The truth is that the Watchtower teaches that 'all peoples' will in fact be exterminated, slaughtered at Armageddon, like pesky roaches or rats infesting a house. The 'good news' that it offers as comfort to all the peoples of the earth is one of a holocaustic 'final solution' where God will destroy 99% of them. It will be an 'ethnic cleansing' the likes of which planet earth has never seen before.

Thanx for the point about 'ethnic cleansing' I can't wait to use that term with a family member,, maybe using the phrase 'ethnic cleansing' in regards to

the belief system of the average witness will cause someone's 'light' to get brigher and help them walk away from this cult.

They are afraid to go out on a limb anymore

it would be interesting if they sent out a call for ALL witnesses to don their placards and hit the streets:

    "THE END IS NEAR"

that would be "going out on a limb". i wonder how many would accept the invitation...

The best thing any active Witness can do is go back and read all the Watchtower magazines starting with Zion's Watch Tower in 1879 and read to where they started "believing". If they still think God is using the Watchtower, there's absolutely no hope for them.

good news that God's Kingdom will soon destroy those who oppress their fellowmen

Should be rewritten to "God's Kingdom will soon destroy ALL who are not JW's, or who claim to be JW's but don't get enough time in field service, or attend enough meetings, or rat out their fellow believers."

This is the utmost in dishonesty. Most people would read it and say "Well, I'm safe. I go to church, believe in God, and don't oppress my fellowman." But we all know that's NOT what JW's really believe.....

I don't think too many would do that. I remember an experience my father told me about when he was a boy. My grandfather was fearless - he would say anything to anybody if he thought it was right. There was an Orangeman's Parade in their town and my grandfather had a placard for himself and my father made up that said "Religion is a snare and a racket" and walked through the middle of the parade. My father was scared sh*tless to say the least, but my grandfather made him do it anyways. People like that are few and far between nowadays. BB

Gary I liked your idea, one would think if a person went back and started reading that they would be out of there in no time

the watchtower keeps watch on world events to help us understand how close we are the watchtower usually focuses in its cover article about world situations that affect many people then with application of the scriptures shows how to best deal with these situations until he acts and shares with people about when these difficulties for mankind will end the watchtower articles deal mainly with deep spiritual thoughts and in depth research on anything that affects our spiritual well being also many study artticles take prophecy and breaks it down to easier understanding with scriptures throughout the bible that back up whta it discussed as for the destruction of all mankind but witnessess i have never seen people referred to as coakroaches or any other derogatory way some people behave badly and can be very cruel and some can be very kind it really is up to individuals which way they would like to live their lives.the organization will not water down the truth and lie to you about not taking decisive action to ensure your survival and the end of this system of things you have a right to exercise your free will you really can do what you want but not without consequences .in todays world if you break the law you are expected to understand the consequences but even then people dont think they should be punished.the watchtower and awake help people tp understand the bible better and it is also an invitation to learn more and to also have that opportunity for everlasting life.there are so many religions out there today that preach the bible but prove false to its teaching so it is understandable for you to be confused when there is a religion that refuses to compromise scriptural principles .

Ezra: "the watchtower keeps watch on world events to help us understand how close we are"

To help us understand how close we are to the end? Ezra, you have got to be joking man. The Watchtower has patently failed in that task. It has since it's inception 130 years ago done nothing but boastfully proclaim that the end is nigh, yet this system still goes on. This is because their chronology, dates, and the 'composite sign' are all hopelessly wrong. Perhaps the end of this world is close, who knows, but the plain fact of the matter is that the Watchtower Society has failed to help its adherents truly understand where they are in the stream of time, other than constantly repeating the nebulous mantra: 'the end is at hand'! Jesus said to keep in expectation of him, yes, but the Watchtower has gone beyond that and used the fear of Armageddon and hope that God will soon intervene as a psychological fear tool based on completely unfounded premises. The WTS has proven itself to be a presumptous false prophet on numerous occasions - nothing more, nothing less.

That is so true. Well said, garybuss.
