So sorry this is happening to you. It makes me so mad when I read things like this! What's the point??!!? Your parents don't need this, you're absolutely right.

    It's insane.

I'm sorry to hear about that as well. I am a fader as well. Fortunately, the only family members I have on the inside I'm not on all that good terms with it wouldn't matter any way since they already treat me as if I were the big bad sinner instead of them, I won't miss them. However, my wife's parents are a different matter since she doesn't want them to shun her. If we fade long enough, they'll treat her the same as they do her other sibling's who all faded decades ago. That despite the fact that one of those siblings has been very actively trying to get them to look at the facts about the organization. However, if she gets excommunicated before a certain amount of time passes, they'll shun her. So we are sticking with fading.
It looks like somebody is starting a witch-hunt. And I personally find it disgusting that the CO is pressuring your parents since you are not technically in the class that the WTBTS says must be shunned. Were it not for our uncertainty in the matter, I'd say to write the WTBTS straight and ask them just what is going on. I'd be curious as to their answer on how it is loving to demand that people shun the merely weak in faith! But since that could result in Elders on your doorstep looking for a reason to take official action against you, I will definately not recommend it!
I certainly hope your father is experienced enough to call the CO on the carpet about that one. I knew an elder who did that to a CO over something just as petty as that. He won!

Officially the WTS does not encourage JWs to shun inactive JWs. Your father could use this to show why associating with you would be the best thing to do.

At times, the pressures of life or other difficulties can cause some to slow down or become inactive in the field service. (Mark 4:18, 19) We may not see inactive ones at congregation meetings. Yet, they likely still have a love of God in their heart. What can be done to strengthen their faith? The elders can offer kind assistance by visiting them. (Acts 20:35) Other congregation members may be asked to assist too. Such loving visits can be just the right medicine, as it were, to revive those weak in faith.

garybuss I tend to agree with your observation. The society maybe giving the co's instructions to shut down anyone whom poses a threat to the borg. Or if they can't get to the individual concerned, try and shut down their contact with family members. I have not made any waves in recent times, that is what puzzles me.

To answer your question misspeaches I live in New South Wales. By the way Ozzie, I would love to come to your meet up please post me with the details.

...the visiting CO brought the elders together to discusss with my father who is still an elder, to decide if he should be allowed to associate or even speak with me.
Who in the hell do they think they are? I have never been disfellowshipped and have yet to disassociate myself.

The Witnesses aways follow the lead of the GB and it is through these kinds of abuses over the decades that they have been proving exactly what kind of Slave they really are (Matthew 24:48, 49 and Luke 12:45). IMO, Since 1914 the when Armageddon didn't come, those leading God's people have been continualy "beating" them with endless oppressive rules and restrictions.

The hardliners may seem to be winning but . . . I'm not so sure. Real recent changes have mostly been on the pragmatic side. The alternative military service agreement, the allowed use of blood to permit blood fractions, the acknowledgement of error in the Watchtower magazine, the ambiguous birthday article, the voting article, and the advise to have medical health insurance in the January letter.

Might be just the attorneys playing Bible tiddlywinks. It just seems to me the evolution of the doctrines is heading into the softer zone. They could have left the alternative military service alone, left the NO BLOOD alone, left the pioneer hours at 100, left the voting the way it was, and never made the allowances for vaccinations and organ transplants. Those changes have stuck.

They really don't have very many real changes to make before they sort of lose my interest. I'll be around as long as the blood misuse doctrine is backed up with shunning. I don't care about the shunning practice anymore. I've gotten used to that policy and I rather enjoy it.

My nasty Witness relatives have snubbed and shunned me for years. It's been a good thing. I insist they continue. :-)

I recently went through something similar, although it was my mother that took it upon herself to shun me, I'm not DA/DF either, but faded. She unexpectedly came to my house Saturday evening and apologized to me, said she wanted a relationship with me "even if we go our seperate ways" - meaning not going to the KH anymore. I was really surprised!!! Hopefully your parents will make a similar decision as well.
