    Does anyone know?

I just want to find out if the WTS has again cacked up a hairball and decided to do it on a day other than the full moon ...

    Hope this helps.

Thank you! Yes, it does help.

Once again, the WTS is observing the Memorial on the wrong day. The full moon occurs on Thursday, April 13.

    The formula they use to determine Nisan 14 is;

Add fourteen days to the new moon nearest the spring equinox. Closest nwe moon to Spring equinox is on Feb 28 - so why did they not come up with March 14?

Also, Scully, my calander shows March 14 as full moon.

So by the looks of that they do have it right for the 12th.

    Jeff:

Add fourteen days to the new moon nearest the spring equinox.

The WTS's criteria was "the first full moon following the spring equinox"... that was drilled Inculcated™ into my tender brain from the age of 7.

I checked the Weather Network's website to find out when the full moon would be in April.

The good news is that I will be working that night, and have a handy excuse for not going if someone calls at the last minute to invite me (like last year). Otherwise, I was going to make plans to ensure that I would have "a previously planned engagement".

    Legolas:

I always found it weird that the Memorial almost always coincided with Passover. It just reinforced in my mind that JWs are more like the Jewish religion than Christian, in terms of what they hold to be more important. Seldom do the JWs refer to examples in the NT, but they have a distinct preference for OT "antitypical" stuff.

Thanks for locating that calendar; I was looking for something similar, but didn't have a chance to do it at work.

I asked that once to an elder because it didn't fall on a full moon here, and he told me that it had to be on the full moon in Israel....

Go figure that out, when Israel isn't even in God's plans anymore as a nation...lol

Well the full moon in Israel excuse doesn't really wash either. Because you would have to do it when it's sundown in Israel, which is 7 hours ahead of my time zone. By the time it's sundown here, the full moon has already passed in Jerusalem.

And what about places that are east of Jerusalem (like Sydney Australia, which is 9 hours ahead of Jerusalem time)? The Society doesn't give them special instructions to have the Memorial so that it coincides with the full moon in Jerusalem - they could be having it too early!
