Do Bethelites have to pay taxes? I know they receive a disgustingly low 'allowance' every month for their slave labor but do they still have to report it? Do they get 1099's at the end of the year? Or does the non prophet profit status protect even the slaves?

Yes, Bethelites have to report to the IRS every year. Many of them have outside income from interest, investments, income from rental property, etc. Certain gifts are taxable such as dividends on stock gifted must be reported. Not all Bethelites come at 19 but had homes and other assets when they came.

Allow me to say that there are a lot of "things" that are NOT reported!

Yes and no.. Yes they have to report but no they don't do it themselves. All i ever did was pack everything into an envelope and send it to the sister that did it for me. (including only what i wished.) one year i got a 1400.00 return..

Isn't that true of all taxpayers or potential taxpayers, some do the paperwork themselves, others have someone else do it for them. But they have to report regardless, Bethelites are not exempt. BTW, Catholic priests and nuns report although they have take a "vow of poverty."

WTS discovered the Vow of Poverty a few years back and invoked it. Turns out the VoP is recognized in the "Federal Codes" and that cleared up a few loose ends by pigeon-holing all those volunteer laborers nobody could explain. So, the Religious Order they formed has that much more in common with Rome. Mustang
