I never write things which are irrelevant. You should know that by now. Seek the deeper meaning and your problems will be multiplied...

You're eating your own tail here Ross - writing an irrelevant post in which you claim to never write irrelevancies. My head hurts.

The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a snake or dragon swallowing its own tail, constantly creating itself and forming a circle.

Believers, please define your 'God' if you are able to.

This is an interesting thread title and loaded with clues as to where peoples gods originate from.

First it is necessary to be a believer. If you believe, god is there, if you don’t he is not.

‘Please define your god.’ Here we see that the god is a possession of the believer .

Then despite being a believer, there is doubt as to whether the believer can define their god.

It seems that the more someone believes and the greater their imagination, the more of a reality their god becomes.

If you had made transcendant contact with the "Divine" (in whatever form you conceptualise it) you would likely come to the same conclusion.

You mean these aren't the semi-alcoholic meanderings of a disarmingly charming inebriated Scotsman?!

I'd love to but my wife isn't in that place yet. Still, she hasn't been to a meeting since last years memorial so who knows?

Perhaps someone could rig up a webcam for the bbq so us sad 'stay-at-homes' could attend vicariously?

I can more define what he is NOT than what god is to me. He is for sure not the god of the OT or the NT and he is not Jesus to me. I actually have had the "god is love" thought in my noggin' for weeks now. Not that THE GOD is love - rather that love (the pure, undefiled, living power of love) is god-like to me. That's about the closest to "a god" I've ever come.

I will never stop reworking my beliefs. I'm a morphing mind all the time......so check with me again next week! he he he

    LT,

i know you and i have had our differences, and that you probably think i belong in that hospital you work at, but i would truly like to get together someday over a brew and hear you describe you experience. there would be no criticism from me, or funny looks or laughter or jerk head comments (yes, it's possible). i just wanna know how it went. (shrugs)

i don't know. you probably don't like to talk about it. i am like that with some things that are really special to me. sharing them cheapens it somehow. but anyways, it would be good for me. and no, please don't give me a link to a post about it. that would be beside the point.

    TS
