Anyone who is baptized into the JW religion is subject to being DFed.

If you are baptised then you are old enough to be disfellowshipped.
No minimum age for DF is mentioned in the OD Book.

A six-year-old JW girl was baptized about 3 years ago in the Chicago area. If she committed a DFing act and was "unrepentant" as little as one day after her baptism, she could be DF'd.
That is the youngest person I know of that has ever gotten baptized in the WTS.

J.R. "Get Down" Brown once gave a talk in which he mentioned that a 5-year old child had been caught sharing pornography on a school bus. Brown's comment was "if they're old enough to do wrong they're old enough to do right".
If that child had been a baptized JW the child could have been disfellowshipped.

pretty good idea to give a child as young as 6 the responsibility to make a choice that could impact and form a young mind so much. any child of any age being shunned by familiy should be considered child abuse.

There is nothing an 8 year old is likely to do to bring about excommunication, but once he hits 13 or 14 and the sex hormones start raging through the body little nasty things can happen.
Given the exacting nature of JW morals it's not a good idea for children to undertake moral commitments they don't understand.
