I will look more closely into this but since I believe in God my bias is that there has to be one true faith somewhere. Just as for the atheists the bias will be that there isn't a god so there wasn't really a true faith and unity in the early church.
Eg there is an idea that Paul and James the leader at Jerusalem violently hated each other and that the writer of Acts had fabricated a story to conceal this conflict and paint a picture of unity. But there is no real proof for this concept.
