Evolution vs Creation and spontaneous generation

Ballisitc - I assume you are referring to thermodynamics when you say spontaneous generation and spontaneous equilibrium are totally different? Please realize, I consider my understandings of science crude to say the least nor do I consider myself a scientist/chemist. Everything I know I have taught myself via research at the library and what I have found on the internet. If you feel that what I am referring to is an "antiquated theory", I am sorry. My findings are not based upon the Creation book, but research of other books and literature. What are your findings based upon? Isn't the whole thing just a simple theory? Evolution and creation - the whole kit and kaboodle will be argued eternally. I still feel evolution is a crock and an easy way out so that we as humans don't have to answer to anyone.

Dan - Honey, I understand your viewpoints, but I still don't buy it, sorry. I can argue and you can argue until we are blue in the face, it still does not prove a damn thing. This is why I am glad I have the freedom to believe as I chose.

You can believe as you choose but it seems erroneous to discount something when you admittedly have little understanding about the matter. Keep researching before you automatically assume it's incorrect.

Interesting point Naeblis. You believe in Evolution, correct? Do you know much about science? Somehow, I doubt it. To be honest, I don't think many of us know a whole heck of a lot about science, and yet we are divided by those who believe and those who don't. I probably know a bit more about this theory or that theory than most of us here, and I think I would be very accurate in saying Jan and Ballistic and a few others are quite educated on the subject (much more than me) - although educated is somewhat of a biased term, being that we are all educated by men.

Heretict! You shall be horribly tortured via such cruel methods as the WHEEL (i dunno if you want me to get into this method of torture..its very very sickening..ill just post an old wood carving) or the rack, perhaps the water torture where i fill your stomach with water until it bursts? All because you do not beleive what I beleive. That is the difference between science and religion.

Quite a messy method of execution, though, because of the sensations you realize before you decease allowing you to realize the errors of your herecy against the church, a popular one. You will be staked to the ground, unable to move, with a device much like a spit placed over you. In the center of your belly, we make a small incision. By small, this of course means only large enough for the hand of your executioner to reach in and grab your intestines. This must be done carefully, so as not to destroy any organs which might cause your death to be premature. Once in hand, a small portion of your entrails will be hooked to the rotating pole, which is then slowly turned until all of your viscera are wrapped about its length.
We must inform you, that the feeling of your body being hollowed of its life bearing oragans and tissue is quite horrific, and you will live through most of this process.

Mr Moe, I don't have a problem if you believe in Creation. Many here do. I still believe in God but also in evolution.
I gave up saying "I'm Right, you're wrong" when I left the JWs.
I only interjected when I saw a flaw in your understanding of evolution.
However, if I debate, I like to do so on a more broader philosophical context, such as "Are we created in God's image, or did we create God in our image?".

I didn't say you couldn't believe how you wanted did I? I'm not a scholar but evolution makes sense to me. You believe in god yet your knowledge of religion or even Christiantiy compared to the experts is rudimentary at best. How is this different?

Naeblis - Quote "I didn't say you couldn't believe how you wanted did I? I'm not a scholar but evolution makes sense to me. You believe in god yet your knowledge of religion or even Christianity compared to the experts is rudimentary at best. How is this different?"

How do you know what my knowledge is of other religions? Rudimentary is an awfully big word for you to be using isn't it? Are not all of people's ideas and beliefs flawed or basic? We are imperfect as humans and always have room to learn. Naeblis, it just so happens I have a very broad understanding of not only Christianity but other religion's beliefs as well. I know the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians as an example. Did you know Egyptian believed all Gods were equaled in power, yet Amen-Ra was known as the Creator of Life, a sun God with the likeness of a Falcon? Why do I know this and other things about ancient Egyptian religion as well? Because I think it's very exciting to learn about. So, point being, we educate ourselves on what interests us. I don't particularly care for science, yet I study it to an elementary degree so that I can prove and disprove my believe in God. I want all angles, and so far, I believe in God and do not believe he used Evolution - YET.

The reason I brought up this topic was to challenge my beliefs and knowledge and to gain further insight in the beliefs of others and why you all feel the way you do based upon facts and not hypothesis.

Oh, I know you all respect my beliefs, I just can see a heated debate coming on, and I don't want it to get heated. I want this to be fun!

Naeblis - "You are a very excitable person. Good day." What do you mean by that? I do not mean to come accross as grumpy. I have a big grin on my face, you just can't see it. I think people misunderstand me a lot of times.

OK, let me be basic, excuse me "rudamentary." What I am looking for here is objectable evidence based viewpoints, facts or proof opposite of my beliefs. Or I would like factual evidence supporting my beleifs. Either way, I am not looking for an argument, if I want that I can go to the nearest Kingdom Hall and talk with a JW. OK? Smile, Jesus still loves you.

    MrMoe,

Your understanding of evolution and even scientific theories is highy flawed. Your posts show many misconceptions about what scientific theories really are and what the theory of evolution is all about.

The basis of evolution is the belief that life originally evolved from nonliving matter, or "spontaneous generation."

This is a completely false statement. This is a typical misconception that Evolution is the same thing as Abiogenesis. It is not - they are two completely separate theories. Abiogenesis deals with life from non life. Evolution deals with the change in life after it was started (either by abiogenesis or special creation or whatever). Evolution does not prove or disprove god in any way.

Believe me - these misconceptions are very typical and I see them almost every day. If you are truly serious about researching this topic a great and interesting read is The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins. This book is great for people who want a simple explanation of evolution and how it works and it also goes into some depth in explaining natural selection.

I highly recommend that book. It cleared up many misconceptions of my own about evolution. You sound like you are in a similar spot I was in a year or so ago. I made it a goal to try and research both sides of the issue as objectively as possible. After reading many books I came to the conclusion that the theory of evolution is an accurate explanation of the development of life on the planet Earth.

    Happy researching!
