I wonder why they still used the term "disfellowship" when the new om book uses the phrase "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses". Is there a difference between the terminology used for the public announcement and the terminology used when they inform the person personally ...or are old habits just hard to break?
I actually kind of feel for the guy. If he ever wakes up and finds himself here he will be kicking himself....

I'll stick by what I said on the first page of the post and say - surely the idea behind this is not to attack the individuals concerned. Additionally, there are many elders on this site who have had to disfellowship people and there are also all different kinds of people here of varying levels of intelligence. (not pointing any out) lol. Anyway, surely, the point is the cruelty and stupidity of the witnesses' disfellowshipping and shunning policies? I really don't get all the laughter "look at that brother's stupid - can't even read". He could walk into the next apostfest next week.

I like how the older man didn't say anything but "we are imperfect". Can you imagine him saying that to every question someone asks him? Wife is upset at him... "I'm imperfect". Boss says why wasn't this report turned in on time...."I'm imperfect" it just goes on and on.

i didnt find it funny... but interesting, especially when he was faced with your question about being tried and convicted without a hearing. i wish you could have come up with a better example than albania on the spot but you did good as it was.
i can see elders meetings now where they will be warned to request the camera be turned off and if it isnt walk away.

the elder stuck to the script pretty well... tell decision, read scripture decision is based on, inform of option to appeal, tell steps to be reinstated....say bye.
