What has been your response with telling "devout" JW's about the UN scandal

  What I cannot reconcile about this is their cover story that it was "just for a library card"??? What in the world would they really need from the UN Library? What could possibly be of so much value there to a religious order which is "no part of the world"...This has got to be the silliest cover story I have heard in years.

  That was exactly my response. Why would the TRUE religion, which had continually hammered the UN, even set foot on the grounds of the UN? Seems as if this reaction only comes from those who are truly affected by the hypocrisy in the situation and are taken aback by it. With others it just doesn't register.

  What's interesting, is that even if one does agree that, technically, nothing "wrong" was done by the Society . . . why didn't the Society follow Paul's advice of not causing others to stumble ? And stay completely away from the 'disgusting thing' so as not to stumble someone ?

  I haven’t actually told any one, except discussing this with my wife at the time. She was truly shocked. However we are now divorced and she despite reading “crisis of conscience” has thrown herself into the truth totally.
  It seems the fear factor is very strong.
  
  I digress.
  
  For me in my passage out of the Borg it has to do with dishonesty.
  Now let me make this clear. I am not saying I agree with the society’s position of the library card or not. For me that is not the issue.
  
  The issue is that people, as this response on the topic has shown have been stumbled.
  They should apologise and have said sorry, we have made a mistake.
  
  Part of me can believe that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. The Borg is too big, it is a monster with a life of its own. If they had apologised they would have demonstrated humility and honesty.
  
  In the march 15th 2006 wt article they have a whole study article on aspects of stumbling!!!!!!
  The irony of counselling people to have the right viewpoint, when they miss the whole point themselves!!!!

  You need to do more research. Do you "honestly" think it was a mistake that the GB entered into a ten year relationship with the UN after Jehovah directed His "faithful and discreet slave" to teach His people that the UN is "the blasphemous counterfeit of God's Messianic Kingdom by His Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ" (Revelation -- Its Grand Climax At Hand book, page 248, paragraph 9)? And that the UN was "the disgusting thing that causes desolation" (October 1, 1985 WT)? And that "God's prophetic Word shows that the United Nations organization with its member nations 'will battle with the Lamb [Christ in Kingdom power], but, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lamb will conquer them.'" (June 1, 1991 WT)? We were continually hammered with this information about the UN during WT studies, book studies, public talks, ministry school assignments, and assembly programs over decades. We R&F were brainwashed, but I guess the "masters of our faith" weren't, eh?
