We really should get it up on the web. Problem is that I've got the VHS and have no way of getting it onto my computer. If it's out on dvd i'll order it. Those are easy to rip.

Is that the one that starts off with Korah's son as an old man and then he's talking about the time his father revolted against Moses and Aaron and we see it as long flashbacks?

It's based on the 2001 DC drama. Funny, that drama was one of the last straws for me. It was such an over-the-top demand for submission, and the correlations between the Bible bad-guys and modern day Opposers™ and Apostates™ were so paranoid, that it almost seemed like they were parodying themselves, only they were dead serious. I clapped along with everybody else when it was over, but in my mind I was more like .

I know of one ex-JW that had his "I gotta get outta here" epiphany when he saw that drama. He described everyone else clapping and him just sitting there dumfounded thinking, "They wants us to obey them. This is all about doing whatever they tell us. Screw this!"

I, unfortunately, was one of the clappers... :-(

Sadly, that's a pretty decent metaphor for being a Witness. They clap, and you come on to the meetings. They clap, and you go off into field service. Little more than machines.

BTW, it was DanTheMan I was speaking of, I didn't realize he had already posted about it! Didn't want to call him out without his knowledge. And of course, I managed to screw up the story a bit. *sigh* ;-)

Yeah, isn't that the one about Korah? Basically, it leads you through the whole "questioning, then murmuring, then speaking against, then all of a sudden the ground is opening and you are dying a violent death" scenario. I found it highly disturbing even when I was not yet questioning much about the org.

Also, my wife and I actually stayed after bookstudy one time to watch that video with the whole bookstudy group. We ate popcorn, even!

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
