What do you call people who adopt other opinions without researching them?

I *would* call them the 6,000,000 members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, but that might be a little obtuse.

What is up with the bereans? The elders mentioned them yesterday..I have no clue who they were or what they did...can someone enlighten me?

    Were they paranoid or cautious?

If the JW discourage the internet, and the researching of other faiths...how can they expect to convert the people of these other faiths they know nothing and want others to know nothing about? Are we to rely on their opinions of them, and allow them to face certain doom while we watch with glee? Is that the idea?

I'd call them what JWs call them - sheep.

    Followers...just followers.

They would rather have others do their thinking for them.

I am looking for a term or new word to describe: A person who adopts another's researched opinion..without investigating it for themselves?

    sheeple

I struggle with this one, because I can't research everything. There just isn't time. I try not to accept one person's view or opinion, instead opting to develop an opinion based on those of others that I trust. (Either because I know them, or I accept their credentials.)

This leaves me believing things that I can't personally prove (Pluto has a moon, black holes bend light, "entangled particles"), but also allows me to build a body of knowledge that appears to be reasonably reliable. It seems like a decent balance. (I hesitate to say "safe balance")

Was I created to be a "yes man" and "butt kisser"? Is that what I have to do to gain everlasting life?

Was that why we were created? I would rather kiss my Creator's ass, than the creation. IMO

    I hear you Dave,

It is a bad/good thing that people must work so much just to get by. My mom has begged me to get a job and work so I will quit thinking so much. Bored and broke is a explosive thing to me. Funny how poineers are encouraged NOT to work(for money anyway) Yet, my sharing information with "apostates" is wrong?

Is that some sort of tactic for controlling the population so they have little choice but to adopt and follow your opinions? So the smarter they become...the more you must work them...to control them?

Why is it bad to be an individual?
