    LOL!

What are these "records" that you speak of?

If that doesn't make you feel, old! I lost the few I had, but my mom has a huge collection, all of Elton John's records, Heart, Led Zeplin, FleetwoodMac, B&O, the list goes on and on. I love going threw them.

I can also remember reading the record cover for my Rick James/Funkadelics over and over again, wondering what "funk" meant, but having no one to ask! (about 1976)

Ha! When she was about 8 my daughter started calling my 45s Antique CDs.

She had to take an old item to a "show and tell" thing at her school so she took Twist n Shout by the Beatles.

I have still kept most of my vinyl but to be honest it doesnt get played that often; I remember when the society went through the phase where everyone was to police their own music collections just in case you had tracks which had hidden messages when spinning them backwards. I think I broke two turntables spinning the bastards around to see if there was anything suspect!

I was a bit of metalhead (and still do appreciate it) back then and my mother discovered my Iron Maiden collection and tried to make me throw them away. She still thinks I did.

When I picked her up she got in the car just before Christmas as she was staying with us and rather conveniently there on the seat was a CD 'Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast'; she said nothing accept she did this tutting noise and put it in the glove compartment...I could tell she was seething! hehe

I've mentioned here how I once called on Dave Gahan's (Depeche Mode) house with and elder, the elder was getting nowhere and didn't recognise him but i stepped in and started going on about a single they had released called "Blasphemous rumours" which is about god having a sick sense of humour because people die.

Afterwards The Elder asked me if I owned that record and I had to confess to owning the 12" (lol) and he made sure I destroyed it.

    :(

Wait a minute!!!! Am I the ONLY one here who still has a collection of 8 track tapes?!?!?!?!

Yes nsrn you're one sad puppy!

unc who wore out Changing of the Guards and Van Morrisons Kingdom Hall.

    Changing Of The Guards

Sixteen banners united over the field
    Where the good shepherd grieves
    Desperate men, desperate women divided
Spreading their wings 'neath falling leaves.

    Fortune calls
I stepped forth from the shadows to the marketplace
Merchants and thieves, hungry for power, my last deal gone down
She's smelling sweet like the meadows where she was born
On midsummer's eve near the tower.

    The cold-blooded moon
The captain waits above the celebration
Sending his thoughts to a beloved maid
Whose ebony face is beyond communication
The captain is down but still believing that his love will be repaid.

    They shaved her head
She was torn between Jupiter and Apollo
A messenger arrived with a black nightingale
I seen her on the stairs and I couldn't help but follow
Follow her down past the fountain where they lifted her veil.

    I stumbled to my feet
I rode past destruction in the ditches
With the stitches still mending beneath a heart-shaped tattoo
Renegade priests and treacherous young witches
Were handing out the flowers that I'd given to you.

    The palace of mirrors
    Where dog soldiers are reflected
The endless road and the wailing of chimes
The empty rooms where her memory is protected
Where the angel's voices whisper to the souls of previous times.

    She wakes him up
Forty-eight hours later the sun is breaking
Near broken chains, mountain laurel and rolling rocks
She's begging to know what measures he now will be taking
He's pulling her down and she's clutching on to his long golden locks.
Gentlemen, he said I don't need your organization, I've shined your shoes
I've moved your mountains and marked your cards
But Eden is burning either brace yourself for elimination
Or else your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guards.

    Peace will come
With tranquillity and splendor on the wheels of fire
But will bring us no reward when her false idols fall
And cruel death surrenders with its pale ghost retreating
Between the King and the Queen of Swords.

    Bob Dylan
