Elders are supposed to be shepherds, you know leave the 99 and go save the lost one. However they toss out the lost one to save the 99. A sure sign they are not true shepherds.
Respect your Elders - they just moved up a class!

Uncle Bruce I remember a Watchtower study from years ago about the Elders being glorious ones. And boy did it go to their heads! The elders in my congregation actually went around for ages referring to one another as glorious ones!

It shows how casually the FDS juggles around verses in order to promote its agenda, they are perhaps doing it to cajole the elders who may be tired of the paradise that never comes and the many duties they have to perform for the org without any tangible reward.
Ya hit the nail on the head, Greendawn!

Up until the early 50's, the WTS taught that the "ancient worthies" Abraham, Isaac, David....were the princes that were spoken of and that they would be resurrected early and would rule on earth in Jerusalem.
In the 1950's, the princes became the elders, anointed and non-anointed.
Other terms used in recent years to describe the elders
Princes
Chieftains
Sheiks
(glorious ones, since 1997)

Good stuff Blondie yet no matter how they dress the Mighty Gorilla nothing inspires as much fear and dubious respect in the great unwashed as the simple term Elder.
Reinforced as it is with seventy or more years of mind control subtefuge, loaded language and creative double
