Down here, it's 9 or 10 months of DANG HOT weather.........and DANG HUMID, too. When I go outside most days, it feels like I've been smothered by a huge wet towel.

You wanna see humid, you should come to Southern Ontario in July. We've got all the Great Lakes on every side of us which creates humidity like the Amazon jungle. Not only that but the pollution from Michigan and from the nickel mines in Sudbury all congregate like a freaking District Assembly, swoop down, picks up all the moisture from the lakes, creates smog as thick as pea soup and linger over us for days or weeks at a time. One day last summer, I heard on CNN that the hottest place in the world that day was Bagdad; the second hottest was Southern Ontario. Heat I can handle----the humidity is awful.

I thought Texas was supposed to be a dry heat!!

Most of it is. I just happen to live on the coastal plain, near Louisiana, land of the swamps and bayous and just South of Texas' Big Thicket. We get fog so thick that if you stick your arm out the window of the car, you can't see your hand.

Yeah... I live in Buffalo... no snow is a lot more exciting than snow here. Although, like most of the country, we actually have had a mild winter. Any snow is too much snow for me, though. Just thought I'd share.

It snowed here for all of 5 minutes too....we never get snow either....bloody annoying as I dont often find an excuse to behave like a child and pummel the neighbours kids with snowballs... its been way too long!

Then again the kids where I used to live I wouldve happily filled a snowball with a half brick and put them out of their misery....snotty precocious little chavs...sorry did I say that out loud!

Hehehe fantastic diamondblue ! I know exactly what you mean.

I'd have thought you'd get a bit more snow up there though?

Funny thing is, it's settled on a couple of the cars and the back garden but it smells like the seaside - how does that one work ! Perhaps someone's been mucking about with the desert !

I have to agree with Mary! I hate the snow and am madly trying to convince my husband to move to a milder climate (with me of course). I have lived in the same town my whole life and need a change in weather!

We get the infamous lake effect snow which happens when the storms pass over the Great Lakes and big fluffy snowflakes fall. Usually the snow banks are taller than me. This yr we have had a mild winter but it has been about 14 degrees (F) for a few weeks.

Pfft, Oregonians. Don't even know what snow is.

It's that cold, white, fluffy stuff that's on the ground in the best parts of the world right now - like most of Canada. It makes really good snowmen and it's great for sledding and snowboarding, and a good snowstorm means a snowday for us students. Right here, we have a good three feet of so of it on the ground right now, with lots of huge snowbanks, and back home, where my mom lives, they had a snowstorm over the weekend and 2.5 feet of fresh snow fell, just on Saturday!!

Me, I like winter. I say, BRING ON THE SNOW!!

-Becka :) (of the "I'm dating an Oregonian and he thinks half an inch is a lot of snow" class) PS: Carmel, see my avatar?? That picture was taken back in August at the beach in Lincoln City, FYI.
