One of the things I love about this forum, aside from Blondie's weekly WT Study, is that I get to read stuff like this:

Thanks Blondie, I enjoyed your review very much. I just came in from field service and before I go to the meeting I always like to read your review. It helps save my sanity a little.

I thought Blondie's mention of the WT's use of anonymous scholars was interesting. What are they hiding? One answer may be found in the 2-15-06 issue of the WT. In the article that starts on page 13 about the Muratorian Fragment they quote Dr. Geoffrey Mark Hahneman. A quick Google search revealed that the quote is accurate, but the whole of point of his book is to prove the opposite of what the WT article is trying to say about the significance of the Muratorian Fragment. I guess they better stick to anonymous sources after all.

    Just one thing: John 3:16--

(John 3:16) "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

    From a good Bible commentary:

Although this word is often translated “only begotten,” such a translation is misleading, since in English it appears to express a metaphysical relationship. The word in Greek was used of an only child (a son [Luke 7:12, 9:38] or a daughter [Luke 8:42]). It was also used of something unique (only one of its kind) such as the mythological Phoenix (1 Clement 25:2). From here it passes easily to a description of Isaac (Heb 11:17 and Josephus, Ant. 1.13.1 [1.222]) who was not Abraham’s only son, but was one-of-a-kind because he was the child of the promise. Thus the word means “one-of-a-kind” and is reserved for Jesus in the Johannine literature of the NT. While all Christians are children of God, Jesus is God’s Son in a unique, one-of-a-kind sense. The word is used in this way in all its uses in the Gospel of John (1:14, 1:18, 3:16, and 3:18).

    Thank you, Blondie.

From the Devil's Dictionary: Patience: a mild form of desperation, often disguised as a virtue.

I wonder if all those poor people who are being murdered and raped and are starving to death in the Sudan (and have been for years and years) are just pleased as punch that Jehovah is so bloody patient? What a crock of shite.

Let us, then, imitate the patience of Jehovah by assisting others to attain to repentance so that they might be saved.

I wonder how they assist people to attain to repentance.

Thanks for all your hard work, Blondie. Another great explanation of a double speak article.
