Ive never been punished like that i my home. My family always talked to me and we would decide a non-physical punishment. I was wandering, is still common for JW family to Spank their children and if so, does the spanking continue into their late teens, even adults. Just wanting to know. Please help.

Depends.
My family came from a carribean background, so the children received WHOOPINGS and this carried over to the congregations where the familys were made up of foreign witnesses.
Anyway, i stopped being "spanked" when i turned 12, thats when i lost TV priviledges and such.

Yes common in JW congregations - they tend to stop when a JW turns about 14 years old -then other privileges are removed

One of the most humiliating experiences of my life: I had been disobedient at a meeting, just not able to sit completely still for two hours, kicking the chair in front of me, whistling etc, the silly things that kids do when the meeting gets to booooring. Afterwards, outside the hall, in the parking lot, my father made me lean over the car, and spanked me, while the entire congregation were walking to their cars, watching. I was around 10 years old, which is what made it so humiliating, he spanked my butt like I was a little kid. It was probably just a "show of strength" from his side, a way to show the congregation that he was the "head of the family" (while, in fact, he was probably as bored as I was). I have never forgiven him for that.
I`m against spanking, and I don`t spank my own kid. Why do people even do that? It`s so unnecessary, it doesn`t even work as well as other solutions, like house arrest, sending the kid to his room, etc. All it does is cause trauma, and hatred for the parent.

I know I got spanked and not just with a hand -- my dad used a belt at times. I think the spankings stopped when I became a teenager though. I spanked my daughter (when she was little and not being good at the meetings) and I think it is/was a common thing. They used to quote the scripture about not sparing the rod, so I believed as JW I was okay to spank my kid.
My husband, on the other hand, does not spank his daughter, but uses time outs and it works just as well. If I had to do it over again, I would not spank my kid -- it only teaches violence. IMHO

I have found the custom of spanking children in the WTS organization to be regional, cultural, and depends on the era the parent grew up in.
The area I live in is more "enlightened" so if a JW spanked their child in a non-JW public setting, they would probably be talked to by a bystander (even the police called).
I have noticed in general in this environment, that JWs spank their childen less than they did 40 years ago when I was a child. It is a challenge to discipline and train a child without hitting them. It is good thing they don't train us that way at work, eh?
