For those unfamiliar with the societys veiws on what apostasy is, this is from the Elder Manuel under

    ..."Elders Ruling for Justice itself".

    Apostasy.

Apostasy is a standing away from, a falling away, defec-
tion, rebellion, abandonment; it involves teaching false
doctrines, supporting or promoting false religion and its
holidays or interfaith activities. (Deut. 13:13, 15; Josh.
    22:22, ftn.; Acts 21:21, ftn.; 2 Cor. 6:14, 15, 17, 18;
    2. John 7, 9, 10; Rev. 18:4)

Those with sincere doubts should be helped, dealt with
    mercifully. (Jude 22, 23; w82 9/1 pp. 20-1;w80 8/1
    pp. 21-2)

Apostasy includes action taken against true worship of
Jehovah or his established order among his dedicated
    people. (Jer. 17:13; 23:15; 28:15, 16; 2 Thess. 2:9, 10)

Persons who deliberately spread (stubbornly hold to and
speak about) teachings contrary to Bible truth as taught
    by Jehovah's Witnesses are apostates.

If it is learned that a person has taken up association with
another religious organization, the matter should be inves-
tigated, and if verified, a committee should be formed.

If it is clearly established that the person has joined
another religion and intends to remain with it, the

elders would make a brief announcement to the congre-
gation that such- one has disassociated himself. (w86
    10/15 p. 31 )

Working secularly for a false religious organization could
put one in a position similar to that of one preaching false
    doctrine. (2 Cor. 6:14-16)

Celebrating a false religious holiday would be similar to
performing any other act of false worship. (Jer. 7:16-19)

    The Bible condemns the following:

    Causing divisions and promoting sects.

This would be deliberate action disrupting the unity
of the congregation or undermining the confidence
of the brothers in Jehovah's arrangement.

It may involve or lead to apostasy. (Rom. 16:
    17, 18; Titus 3:10, 11 )

"Persons who deliberately spread (stubbornly hold to and speak about) teachings contrary to Bible truth as taught by Jehovah's Witnesses are apostates."

So we're ALL screwed. You can't even argue that you are actually promoting real bible truth: it's "bible truth AS TAUGHT BY JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES" that counts.
It's like they know folks will argue that they have beliefs that are from the bible so therefore shouldn't get df'ed but nope- they already got the stranglehold clause built in there.
Good greif. Even Jesus himself would be disfellowshipped.

This is why I refuse to discuss "religion" or "my beliefs" with Jehovah's Witnesses. Even if they ask me a question and seem genuinely interested, I will politely decline to discuss it.

However, where the behaviour of Jehovah's Witnesses is concerned, that's another matter, entirely. Anything I hear from a JW about another JW that is distressing, I quite enjoy asking "Now does that seem Loving™ to you?"

Oh to twist the blade and rub salt in the wound....

"Apostasy is a standing away from..."

Well...that sure leaves a door big enough for the Elders to fly a Boeing 747 thru...

<----------------------------So, if' I stand over here and the sheeps stand over there...------------------------------->

    That's all it takes ?

    That's all folks! We're toast.

Nice point! They use a broad term like that to gain great freedom to do as they see fit. If they were tied down to the point the little people are...they would be much easiar to circumvent.

    thank you...

I learned something here...the enforcers must posess great freedom to force others to bow to their whims and opinions. I still feel like something else is eluding me though.

Well, we all know thats complete bullsh*t. Hey f*ckers, i have some sincere doubts, answer all my questions completely and sure I'll study again. Good thing there is a snowballs chance in hell that will happen.

The thing that gets me is that the rule book, the Secret Elders Manual, "Sheepherding the Flock", is off limits to anyone, except Elders ! You can get accused, have a trial (with or without you), never see or know or get to question your accusers and you do not have access to the "WT law" book so you will know your 'rights.' (you don't have any...)

Do you mean the elders are calling themselves apostates? Could you explain how you came up with that?

Not to be picky, but what if I started going to, say, a Mormon Church, and when/if some elder asked me about it and I were to reply: "Oh, don't worry, it's not permanent. I'm just doing research.(or, "I'm undercover") Would that be okay?
