Its hard to get to the complete truth about anything.
I try not to allow media news to get me too upset or excited.
After all alot of it really does not concern me nor my life directly.
But like Blondie said by reading a wide variety of sources one can be fairly certain one is hearing some accuracy.....less collaborative motive for lying.
Do you think the media tells you the truth?

Interesting question considering that one mainstream news outlet was caught using forged documents to prove it's "truth" during the last presidential election.
I think one should never accept the news at face value. It has never been reliable when an agenda was invovled. Just before the Sapnish American War, the newspapers of the day were pushing naked imperialism. They wanted the United states to sieze Cuba and other Spanish colonies and printed shocking lies meant to inflame the poulace to that end. The result was that we went to war on dubious grounds to sieze Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Phillipines.
Newsroom lies have a long and rich tradition as the foregoing illustrates. My opinion is that one should use a variety of sources, across the political spectrum, and engage in a little critical thinking on the news which is presented. I don't just watch Fox. I also try to catch CNN and to some extant ABC or NBC as well as some foreign language newscasts. I try to do the same on the net. I don't limit myself to right-leaning sources and make use of foreign language news sites.

I get my news from mostly leftie sites and compare it to what's on Fox. The truth is some combination of it all. I've wondered how much it matters if I don't let if affect my choices; ie, as long as I maintain my integrity in what I believe, whatever 'the truth' is can stay liquid. I'm just like most people; I pick the news that fits in with my world view, and reject information that challenges that. :D
Not really. I think it's all lies and that doesn't matter; as long as I'm living my life in a way that I can be proud of; environmental news makes me conserve energy sources, marketing makes me grow a lot of our own food and buy lots of second-hand stuff, local news gets me involved in the community with things I can help with, geopolitics sends me out into international charity work.
Just always ask yourself 'what's their angle'. Most news reporting is entertainment; presented in a way to keep you watching so you buy their sponsors crap or keep paying for cable. We've not much time on this planet, so I'm not wasting it swallowing some suit's version of journalism.

I think Fox news is fair and balanced and unafraid. I like Brit Hume as anchor. I think the local paper, Dayton Daily News is a left wing rag. I was unaware of the liberal bias in the news media till I began researching some of the stuff Dan Rather put out. I like Sean Hannity and Neal Boortz (till he ticks me off sometimes).

If you believe the mainstream media tells the truth I have some oceanfront property in Iowa I'd like to sell you. Not to say that everything in the paper or the headline on TV is bogus but they NEVER focus on what are the most important issues going on at the time. At times, stories are completely fabricated to cause you to think in a certain direction. Alternative media on the internet is the place to go for a more accurate assessment of what is going on and what really matters. Here are a few good sources:

No, not all the truth.
There is classified news that stays secret.

Of course the media is truthful ... especially those who provide additional insight into the news.
Who could doubt the truthfulness of Rush Limbaugh, G Gordon Liddy, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Laura Ingram just to name a few.
I listen to them and I fell like I am hearing the truth and nothing but the truth.

Heck, most people on the planet are not truthful about THEMSELVES. Even my sister and I, recalling family events, remember them differently.
I figure the safest way to navigate through life is to check and cross check any information that comes my way.
