Adhering to a Godly View of Marriage

Excerpted from The Watchtower of September 15, 2007:

    13. Sadly, some Christians today willfully ignore the apostle Paul's inspired counsel to marry "only in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 7:39) How foolish! Being guided by our bodily members or feelings of so-called "romantic love" cannot lead to success in such cases. Instead, broken homes and divided families are frequently the result.

    14. A sister in Uzbekistan relates: "When I was 19, I thought I knew better than my parents. Yuri was so tall and handsome! He impressed me with his charm and manners, and he had a well-paying job at the local steel factory. But Yuri did not share my love for spiritual things. Instead, after our marriage, he tried to get me to attend a worldly institute of higher learning. I resisted with all my might, even screaming to Jehovah for help when he dragged me into the registrar's office. When it became clear that my relationship with God was absolutely endangered, a divorce was sought." The sister now finds happiness in serving as a regular pioneer in the Tashkent congregation. But how much heartache could have been avoided if she had only heeded repeated admonitions from family, fellow congregation members and God's Word!

    15. It is instructive to consider the example of Nehemiah in this regard. The prophet boldly opposed the men of Jerusalem who, after returning from captivity in Babylon, had taken foreign wives. Did Nehemiah merely confine himself to a rebuke or two, thereby condoning this defiance of God's standards? Far from it! Listen as Nehemiah describes his forthright action in vivid terms: "And I began to find fault with them and call down evil upon them and strike some men of them and pull their hair and make them swear by God: 'You should not give your daughters to their sons, and you should not accept any of their daughters for your sons or yourselves.'" (Nehemiah 4:7)

    16. The foreign wives spoke Ashdodite, apparently a form of the ancient Philistine language, which compounded the insult to Jehovah. Post-exilic Jews had no excuse for entering into such marriages. Thus, Nehemiah was fully justified in speaking out and demonstrating godly hatred for their behavior. Likewise today, Christians should not shrink from taking a firm stand for righteousness if it becomes known that a member of the congregation is deliberately seeking a worldly mate. If the situation escalated to the point of marriage, would it be appropriate for appointed elders to act as Nehemiah did? The Bible itself gives the answer: "We must obey God as ruler rather than men." (Acts 6:29) Prevailing social standards and worldly laws cannot serve as our guide in this matter. Jehovah rewards those who loyally adhere to a godly view of marriage.

What the apostate always fails to appreciate is that Jehovah is the Originator of marriage. Therefore, any guidelines that he gives are for our eternal benefit and can only be disregarded by those so thoroughly deceived by Satanic propaganda as to have completely lost their appreciation for spiritual things. As I have said all along it is in these matters that our loyalty to Christ's brothers is tested. Truly, it's as the proverb writer stated: "The ridiculer has sought to find wisdom, and there is none; but to the understanding one knowledge is an easy thing." (Proverbs 14:6) But this is what we have to expect with the system on the very brink of its final, climactic collapse. You are sad man. LOL!

    Prisca,

I thought that since I'd already done a Watchtower parody, which seemed to be sinking rapidly down the board, that I might as well add a few more parodies to go with it! I'm afraid people tend to think, on first glance, that my stuff IS actually out of the Watchtower!

I looked at the date so it obviously isn't from a real Watchtower.

However, I still think your Fred Hall impersonation was a tad strange.

Actually, I thought it had the ring of "Fred truth!" That being said, I subscribe to the view that the Fred Hall on this board is in fact parodying the one who used to post on H20.

And no, I am not in the business of creating multiple identities. I just have a quirky sense of humor, as you may have gleaned from my "Watchtower article."

This post is interesting in that the poster speaks of the "Nearness" of the end of the world.

if one were to take the WT CDrom and do a search on :

    SOON
    SHORTLY
    FAST APPROACHING
    AROUND THE CORNER
    IN OUR LIFE TIME
    etc

one would quickly realize that the wt has been selling to it's members this line so long that the words above have become almost meaningless- how long can one say Soon and 125yrs have passed-

when the wt says SOON they are not speaking in terms of what is called gods view of time, but the view of man- well reminds me of this excellent post that Norm graced us with:

Man these bring back the memories of the days in - sitting around waiting for the grass to grow , yep these are the words of a truly loyal JW better known as YOU KNOW.

As we can see the ability of WT to keeps it’s members holding their breath has a long history

    {z0Q.VYic9wMNeo5UWiLAX.sgIvMbfw}:

    "A sense of urgency"

The above phrase is one of the most cherished in the Watchtower’s huge
arsenal of tools for manipulation. It is used to work the average Jehovah's
Witness into a sort of frenzy and keep them there. This is of the outmost
importance for the Watchtower Society leaders. Many Jehovah's Witnesses
has spent their entire lives in this state, hoping and longing for the promises of
the Watchtower to come through, only to die of old age after a wasted lifetime
peddling worthless books and magazines, which sometimes is outdated before
the ink in them is dry.
Lets take a closer look at the use of this phrase in the Watchtower literature. A
search of the CD ROM show that the phrase had its beginning in the sixties:

“Time is fast running out. We may not be slothful nor may we
procrastinate if we would keep clean from the blood of all men. Truly,
woe is us if we do not take advantage of every opportunity to warn all
we can. Let us give the warning with earnestness and intensity, yes,
with a sense of urgency as though this were our last time to warn our
hearers. Who knows how soon this actually will be the case?”
    Watchtower, October 1. 1960, page 608

“Franz went on to explain that the remarks of the speaker were
perfectly sane, for God’s Word foresaw the end of World War II, and
following it a postwar peace that would not last. “Now, here we are,”
Franz continued, “in the twenty-first year of this peace since World
War II, and the prediction is that this peace will not last. . . . It should
fill you with a sense of urgency,” Franz told the students, “to realize
that the sands in the hourglass up above are running out, and the time
is coming to a close for this work that has to be done before this peace
    ends.” Watchtower, April 1. 1966, page 195-6.

Yeah, sure. Like countless other doomsayers Franz is now pushing up daisies.
All of them making it a lifetime career showing their insanities down other
people’s throats. Their “sense of urgency” proved to be little more then a
fantasy, and a very sick one at that. In the end of the sixties, when the year
1975 got the attention this phrase was beginning to get more use:

    “They Feel the Urgency
One of the most outstanding proofs of the growing sense of urgency
among God’s people is the number of persons who arranged their
affairs to spend their full time in the preaching work regularly or for a
vacation period. This past year over 10,000 more than during the
preceding year enthusiastically took up this work. This meant many
sacrifices for mothers, fathers, young ones and older folks.”
    Watchtower, February 1. 1969. Page 93-4.

“They Are Acting on What They Are Learning
But when they were told about the new six-month Bible-study
arrangement, they were visibly touched. Now for the first time a real
sense of urgency struck them. They could not bear the thought of
having all connections with Jehovah’s people severed. So they sent a
letter of withdrawal to the Baptist church because they knew that they
were not being taught the Bible’s truth there. They began attending all
the Bible meetings of Jehovah’s witnesses and sharing with others the
    things they learned.”
    Watchtower, June 1. 1969, page 347.

“What so amazed the onlookers?… It was the sense of urgency that
    motivates them.
That sense of urgency stems from the knowledge, gleaned from the
Bible, that soon now, not many years hence, Jehovah’s judgment
against a wicked system of things on earth will be executed.”
    Watchtower, February 15. 1970, page 121.

“There is need to participate in that work with a sense of urgency,
too, for the end of this wicked system of things is drawing near. The
time is short. The harvest is great and the workers are few.”
    Watchtower, July 1. 1973, page 405.

“They feel a sense of urgency as they talk to people, for they look
upon the short time remaining for this system of things as a time of
Jehovah’s exercise of patience, knowing that he does not desire the
death of anyone.” Watchtower, October 15. 1974, page 631.

"Working Night and Day" to Make Disciples
JEHOVAH’S organization works with a sense of urgency. There is a
    job to get done.”
    Watchtower, Mach 15. 1975, page 177.

After the 1975 failure the “sense of urgency” was shelved until 1978-79. After
1975 several hundred thousand left the Watchtower Society and the remaining
showed a tendency towards leading a normal life. Of course Jehovah's
Witnesses can’t be allowed to have a normal life. People living normal lives
don’t peddle worthless literature door to door, so here we go again:

“Many would lose the sense of urgency and fail to keep wide awake.
We could easily become fully occupied with the normal pursuits of
daily life. Surely in this we must learn how to look at things from
Jehovah’s viewpoint and try to appreciate how he counts time,
keeping in mind Peter’s words: “But the end of all things has drawn
close. Be sound in mind, therefore, and be vigilant with a view to
    prayers.”—1 Pet. 4:7; 2 Pet. 3:8, 9.”
    Watchtower, April 15. 1979, page 24-5.

Unbelievable isn’t it? They actually tell the R&F that they shouldn’t under any
circumstance, “become fully occupied with the normal pursuits of daily life”,
amazing, isn’t it? In other words, being normal people isn’t anything for a real
    Jehovah's Witness.
It is quite amusing to notice the completely weird argument for this kind of
strange thinking and worldview, they are quoting a man who was also waiting
in vain for some imaginary deity to perform some imaginary act almost 2000
years ago. The example of Peter does in reality show us how utterly hopeless
this whole idea is. But of course, there will probably be a lot of idiots still
quoting this same text 2000 years from now, with “a sense of urgency”.

“Could it be that we are living in a “dream,” asleep to the reality of
the changing world scene, perhaps spending too much time and money
in pursuit of material interests? Even as a dreamer has no sense of
time, have we also lost the sense of urgency of the times in which we
    are living?”
    Watchtower, March 15. 1979, page 30.

It is Jehovah's Witnesses who really do live in a dream, totally asleep to the
realities of the world scene. The only urgency any Jehovah's Witness should
feel is to get out of the weird world they live in, and start getting a life. Now,
after the 1914 “rubber band” generation was finally allowed to die, there is a
new tendency among the average Jehovah's Witnesses toward living normal
lives. After several decades of having stretched the “generation” all the way
up to 80 years, Brooklyn is now working extremely hard to convince the
Witnesses that whatever the “generation” means it is an extremely short one,
again the “end” is very near, and the “sense of urgency” phrase is utilized to
its fullest. With all of their “carrots” in the form of some time frame gone, now
remains only the “stick” with which the average Witness must be prodded into
action and a constant repetition of how “urgent” the “time” is, are used as
    never before in the Watchtower.

Of course after all the time on this same poor “spiritual diet” the Witnesses are
almost immune to this constant yelling about the “end”, after over 100 years of
this, the Watchtower Society continues the mindless tradition of other
fundamentalists in repeating the mantra from 2000 years ago about the “end
    drawing close”.

“A sense of urgency moves Jehovah’s Witnesses to be zealous in
their ministry, as seen in their spending a total of 1,096,065,354 hours
in 1994 preaching to their neighbors, making return visits, and
    conducting 4,701,357 Bible studies.”
    Watchtower, January 1. 1995, page 17,18.

One can hardly imagine a less productive way to spend ones time. An activity
so utterly void of any possible value is difficult to find. Living a life as a victim
constantly on the prowl to create and accumulate new victims of the same
    fraud is indeed tragic.

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
WHAT is one sure, God-approved way to keep on serving Jehovah
whole-souled? It is to have a genuine sense of urgency deep in our
hearts. To serve God in a whole-souled manner means to serve him
with the whole of our being, and it requires earnest, implicit obedience
to everything he asks us to do.” Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page
    25.

Yeah sure, “implicit obedience” to a bunch of men who in their own senseless
stupidity has gulled you into thinking that “serving Jehovah” is synonymous
with peddling totally hopeless literature to an unsuspecting public.

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
It is difficult, however, to put our heart and soul into our service to
God if we do not have a feeling of urgency deep within ourselves or if
the sense of urgency we once had has now become dull—perhaps lost
altogether. Today, we live in a time of urgency unparalleled by any
other period in man’s history.” Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page
    26.

According to the Watchtower, when has there NOT been “a time of urgency
unparalleled by any other period in man’s history!”? Isn’t this the very same
nonsense as Peter was advertising about 2000 years ago?

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
Some might raise the logical question, Why was a sense of urgency
needed back then if the foretold “great tribulation” was centuries
    away?—Matthew 24:21”
    Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page 27.

Yes indeed, why? And why do you still go on about this nonsense after almost
2000 years? For how many more thousands of years will this stupidity continue
before you realize that there is never going to be any “great tribulation”?

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
Furthermore, he knew that his disciples would themselves benefit
spiritually by maintaining a sense of urgency until his return.”
    Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page 27.

Can you imagine how beneficial it must be to be worked up about the
imminence of something that will never come, and which you will never
experience? How rewarding it must have been to have lived a lifetime waiting
for something that will never materialize?
To have put off an education, to have put off a career, to have put off pursuing
a talent, in short, put off having a life, used your time on endless boring
meetings and assemblies, listening to the same hopeless drivel over and over
    again thousands of times!

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
The Christian sense of urgency has served Jehovah’s purpose. It has
helped Christ’s disciples to carry out the progression of their
assignment according to Jehovah’s unerring schedule. And so today,
looking back over nearly 2,000 years, we understand that divine
    schedule more fully.”
    Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page 27.

Incredible. If there is one thing that hits hard and with extreme clarity it is the
fact that the Watchtower and the average Jehovah's Witness have absolutely
no clue whatsoever about the “divine schedule”! How sad a spectacle this is.

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
Yes, the God-stimulated sense of urgency had a wonderfully
    encouraging effect..”
    Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page 28.

Yes, it had a very stimulating effect in 1874, in 1914, in 1925 and 1975, but
immediately after these failures it had the opposite effect.

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
The Lord Jesus said that his disciples would be like “sheep amidst
wolves,” and he knew the need for us to keep a determined, fixed
view in order to combat the world. Yes, we have been safeguarded,
protected by our Christian sense of urgency.—Matthew 10:16.
    Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page 28.

    Sigh.

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
Jehovah God in his infinite wisdom has always given his servants
enough information for them to keep their sense of urgency alive.”
    Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page 28.

Good grief. What information? If there is one thing the Watchtower Society
has demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt, it must be it’s inability to
understand anything related to the Bible. It's total ignorance screams from
    every page of the Watchtower.

    “Guard Your Sense of Urgency
Yes, a godly sense of urgency is an integral part of whole-souled
service to Jehovah. It wards off and helps thwart the Devil’s attempts
to cause God’s servants to “get tired and give out in [their] souls.”
(Hebrews 12:3) For all eternity, whole-souled devotion will cause
Jehovah’s servants to obey him, but now, in these pre-Armageddon
days, a deep, genuine sense of urgency is an essential part of
whole-souled devotion. May Jehovah our God help all of us to guard
our sense of urgency while we continue to echo the words of the
apostle John: “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus.”—Revelation 22:20.”
    Watchtower, October 1. 1995, page 28.

Godly sense of urgency? What on earth has this got to do with God? And here
I thought that thousand years is as one day For God, so how can he possibly
    have a sense of urgency?

    “A Time to Keep Awake
The need to keep awake is more critical than it has ever been. Jehovah
has revealed to us “the things that must shortly take place,” and we
    should respond with an absorbing sense of urgency.—Revelation 1:1;
    11:18; 16:14, 16.” Watchtower, November 1. 1995, page 20.

The incredibly silly idea that “keeping awake” includes running around
shouting about doom and gloom and yelling about some “end” to be imminent
is totally ridiculous. The amazing inability to learn and comprehend the simple
fact that something that was declared to “shortly take place” 2000 years ago,
and still hasn’t occurred has lost all meaning. It is indeed a great tragedy to
watch this total waste of time and energy that is caused by the Brooklyn lead
    multinational con operation.

    {z0Q.VYic9wdhIjSXPymAX.sgIvMbfw}:

    The Watchtower Society’s central dogma

As all Jehovah's Witnesses KNOW, but are always totally unable to explain,
the Watchtower Society just is ”Jehovah’s Organization”. This claim has been
repeated so many times in the Watchtower literature that it has become a
”truth”. Let us look at the language and phrases used:

“The historical facts show that 1919 was the year when the remnant
on earth of the 144,000 Kingdom heirs began to be freed from Great
Babylon. In that year the message of God's established kingdom began
to be preached from house to house and publicly by Jehovah's
Christian witnesses in a fearless way. This preaching of the Kingdom
as established in 1914 was in fulfillment of Jesus' prophecy in
Matthew 24:14: 'This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all
the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations."
Babylon the Great Has Fallen! 1963, p. 515.

As usual when there isn’t a single shred of any evidence whatsoever, the
phrase: “The historical facts show”, is used. Of course historical facts show no
such thing, if anything they show the opposite, which I shall demonstrate in the
    following.

“TIME OF INSPECTION BY THE SLAVE'S MASTER
Without a question of doubt, it was a real time for inspection of the
Master's "slave" class. All the facts of the case argue that the Master
came for the work of inspection at the time. Such a thing was to be
expected according to the prophecy of Malachi 3:1?5. Of course, the
sectarian churches of Christendom had made a wartime record for
themselves, an open record that had a heavy bearing on their claim to
be disciples and slaves of Jesus Christ. Could they, by even their latest
record down till 1919, prove that they themselves were the composite
"faithful and discreet slave" class of the heavenly Lord and Master,
Jesus Christ? He as Judge would indicate what his findings were by the
way he thereafter dealt with the hundreds of religious sects of
    Christendom.”
    God's Kingdom of a Thousand Years Has Approached, 1973, p. 349.

Again we see a totally hopeless string of meaningless words, with absolutely no
real facts to back them up. This is at best sheer fantasy. But let us for a few
moments take this insane drivel serious, let us investigate the claim from
Brooklyn. As we can see above, the churches of Christendom was going to be
judged by their “record” previous to 1919. Wouldn’t it then be logic to assume
that the record, previous to 1919 would also be considered in the case of the
Watchtower Society? Of course! So what does the Watchtower Society record
    previous to 1919, show us?

Well, absolutely 100% of their prophecies had failed. Russell’s “chronology”
    with the years 1799, 1874, 1878, 1881 and 1914, was all a thundering fiasco,
but as history shows they would still be considered “The Truth” up to 1930.
But no doubt the Lord, Jesus Christ, who was carrying out the inspection
would have read their absolutely latest “blockbuster” publication, “The
Finished Mystery”, published in 1917. This publication would no doubt have a
great impact on which he would choose to be his “faithful and discreet slave
class”. So could the Watchtower Society: “prove that they themselves were
the composite "faithful and discreet slave" class of the heavenly Lord and
Master, Jesus Christ?” Yes, indeed, what was the Watchtower Society’s
    record?

Let us take a closer look at some of the “truths” brought forth by this
remarkable book. Jesus no doubt must have been quite intrigued by the fact
that the book claimed that he himself was responsible for it:

“The Lord assumes an interest in and responsibility for the complete
series of STUDIES IN THE SCRIPTURES, the last one of which
especially represents the winepress feature (Rev. 14:18?20) ... And I
saw (an) ANOTHER angel. ? The Elijah class after the publication of
Volume Seven Studies in the Scriptures.” The Finished Mystery, 1917,
    p. 295.

Now let us look at what Jesus was made responsible for. Apparently his
alleged “inspection” in 1919, wasn’t altogether fair. It looks like he had
already made up his mind as early as in 1879!

“8:3. And another angel. ? Not the "voice of the Lord," mentioned in
the preceding chapter, but the corporate body ? the Watch Tower
Bible and Tract Society, which Pastor Russell formed to finish his
work. This verse shows that, though Pastor Russell has passed beyond
the veil, he is still managing every feature of the Harvest work "The
Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society is the greatest corporation in the
world, because from the time of its organization until now the Lord
has used it as His channel through which to make known the Glad
    Tidings." The Finished Mystery, 1917, ? p. 144.

Here we get some really astonishing and sensational “information”. First of all
it is made quite clear that the Lord (Jesus) had used the Watchtower Society as
his channel “from the time of its organization” which was in 1879! So why go
through the motion of staging a mock inspection in 1919? But there is another
very interesting piece of information here too. Pastor Russell was still in
charge of the “harvest work” even though he was dead! Yikes! And I thought
Jehovah's Witnesses abhorred spiritism. Well, let us move on and feast our
eyes on the wealth of “truth”, coming straight from the “Lord”. As all
Jehovah's Witnesses are familiar with, the Revelation speaks about the “great
crowd” which number nobody could count. Oh yeah? The Watchtower Society
of course even KNEW the number of the great crowd, which was called
    “company” back then:

“The number ? of the Great Company will apparently exceed one
hundred millions. Num. 4:46?48 and Ex. 28:1 indicate but one priest to
each 2,860 Levites, which would make the number of the Great
Company approximate 411,840,000.” The Finished Mystery, 1917, p.
    103.

But it doesn’t end here. Jesus, who was made responsible for this
“masterpiece” also, had more “truths” to reveal. Every self respecting
Jehovah's Witnesses today KNOW who the angel Michael and his angels really
are. But the Finished Mystery told the faithful the truth:

“12:7. And there was war in heaven.? Between the two ecclesiastical
powers, Pagan Rome and Papal Rome. Michael. ? "Who as God," the
Pope.? B275; C62. And his angels. ? The Bishops. The following is the
reply given in the Catholic catechism to the question, "Who are the
successors of the Apostles?" Ans. "The bishops who are rightly
consecrated, and are in communion with the head of the Church, the
Pope."(Fought against) TO WAR WITH the dragon. ? Attempted to
get the temporal power away from the civil rulers. ? Rev. 2:12. And
the dragon. ? Imperial Rome. ? B288; Rev. 12:3; 20:2. Fought and his
angels. ? Did everything possible to circumscribe the growing power of
the papacy, but all in vain. ? Rev. 2:12.” The Finished Mystery, 1917,
    pp. 188?189.

Then we have Job - the first railroad man.

Jesus must have taken great pride, (considering he was “responsible”
for this work) in the following explanation of Job 40: 15 – 41: 34:

“Job also describes the steam engine?stationary, railway and marine.
The following is a corrected translation of Job 40:15 to 41:34, with
comments thereon from the pen of one of Pastor Russell's followers:
"Behold now one with great heat (the stationary steam engine), which
l have made to be with thee; he will consume fodder (peat, wood,
coal) as do cattle. Behold now his strength is in his loins (boiler
plates), and his power is within the parts bent in a circle (boiler shell)
of his belly. His tail (smoke stack?opposite the feeding end) will set
upright like a cedar; the couplings of his leaping parts (connecting
rods, pitmans) will be clamped together. His bones are tubes of
copper; his solid bones (grate bars) are as hammered?out bars of iron.
He is the greatest of the ways of power. He that made him (the Lord)
can make His sword (Word) to approach unto (reveal) him. Isa.
26:20,21.) He shall rest under thin shelter (steam jackets) within a
covering of fibrous reeds (jute) and clay (mortar). The willows of the
valley (the trees overhead) will enclose him around about. Behold (as
a pumping engine) he will drink up an overflowing river without much
exertion; he will cause the people to trust (that their cellars will keep
dry), though a Jordan should rush forth over its border. He will gather
it up in his fountains by means of traps and with a perforated nozzle.
"Thou wilt lengthen out leviathan (the locomotive) with a hook
(automatic coupler) or with a snare (coupling pin) which thou wilt
cause his tongue (coupling?link) to drop down. Wilt thou not place a
ring (piston) in his nostrils (cylinders) or pierce through his cheeks
(Piston ends) with a staff (piston?rod)? Will. he make repeated
supplication unto thee, (to get off the track)? Or will he utter
soft?tones unto thee (when he screeches; with the whistle)?”
The Finished Mystery, 1917, pp. 84?85.

I mean, how could Jesus resist this evidence when considering who should be
his “channel” on earth? But there were other even more compelling “facts”
that would weight heavily on the scale in favor of the Watchtower Society.
Think about their 100% failure rate in the past, but now Jesus during his
inspection no doubt also would have noticed the much published lecture
“Millions of people now living will never die”, held in 1918. Where Rutherford
    stated:

"Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return
of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly
    those
named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human
    perfection."
(Millions Now Living Will Never Die, p. 89.

Jesus being “responsible” for all of this literature, of course knew the facts
about all of this. But apparently he and The Watchtower Society took another
stab at a date for the end, and who can argue against this accurate and very
upbuilding explanation of the Holy Scriptures as we can behold here:

“No doubt Satan believed the Millennial Kingdom was due to be
set-up in 1915... Be that as it may, there is evidence that the
establishment of the Kingdom in Palestine will probably be in 1925,
ten years later than we once calculated. The 70 jubilees, reckoned as
    50 years each, expire October 1925. (B 186.) Gen. 15:1?16:3, read
connectedly, indicates that Abraham's vision as to when he would
receive the Kingdom was not granted until ten years after the
Covenant was made, or 2035 B.C. The ages of the animals offered
aggregated eleven years, which, applied prophetically, on the scale of
a year for a day, equal 3960 years, the length of time from the date of
the visions to A.D. 1925 (Z.'07?79). It seems conclusive that the hour
of Nominal Zion's travail is fixed for the Passover of 1918. (See Rev.
3:14.) That will be 7 years prior to 1925. At that time there is every
reason to believe the fallen angels will invade the minds of many of
the Nominal Church people driving them to exceedingly unwise
conduct and leading to their destruction at the hands of the enraged
masses, who will later be dragged to the same fate .... After the
demons, have been turned loose on the swine class, we shall see what
happens. (Matt. 7:6; 8:31?34.) Those now fearful that they might learn
something will be terror?stricken then for a different reason.” The
    Finished Mystery, 1917, p. 128.

What a powerful and convincing track record the Watchtower Society had!
How could Jesus have done anything else but the obvious, he had to reject the
foul, false sect’s of Christianity and choose this beacon of truth and integrity,
The Watchtower Society, which he apparently had already chosen in 1879 as
his “channel of communication”. And what does the record show? Well,
according to the Watchtower claims he poured his spirit out on them to such
an extent that they nearly choked. So let us see what influence “Jehovah’s
Spirit” had on them. What did they do, now that they had been chosen, and
had gotten this incredible amount of spirit from Jehovah?

The Watchtower Society has up to this day continued to paint their history as
    rosy as possible.
Knowing full well what kind of hopeless tripe, drivel and totally false claims
that was made in the Watchtower literature at the time, we can here see some
examples of the incredibly dishonest way Brooklyn treat their history:

“There would, however, be a further application of Joel 2:28-32.
Indeed, this prophecy has had remarkable fulfilment since September
1919. At that time a memorable convention of Jehovah’s people was
held in Cedar Point, Ohio, U.S.A. God’s spirit was clearly manifest,
and his anointed servants were stimulated to embark on the global
witnessing campaign that extends into the present day.” Watchtower
    May 1. 1992, page 13.

“Particularly in 1919 and 1922 were there modern outpourings of
Jehovah’s spirit, especially in connection with the two conventions of
Jehovah’s dedicated people at Cedar Point, Ohio.” Watchtower June
    1. 1981, page 30.

“But Jehovah raised them up by his spirit and word of truth. Shortly
thereafter, at their 1922 convention in Cedar Point, Ohio, they loyally
determined to advertise the King and Kingdom. Jehovah has been
guiding them since then, so that his name and kingdom have become
    known worldwide.” December 15. 1980, page 19.

As you can all see, there is a lot of song and dance about these “memorable”
conventions in Cedar Point in 1919, and 1922. It is also worth noticing that
any mention of what this much praised advertising was all about, is surgically
avoided. What then, was the message the “spirit” wanted “Advertised” in
1922? Well, it was the “Millions Campaign” which started in 1920. It was this
    message:

"The period must end in 1925. The type ending, the antitype must
begin; and therefore 1925 is definitely fixed in the scriptures. Every
thinking person can see that a great climax is at hand. The Scriptures
clearly indicate that the climax is the fall of Satan's empire and the full
establishment of the Messianic kingdom. This climax being reached by
1925, and that marking the beginning of the fulfillment of the long
promised blessings of life to the people, millions now living on earth
will be living then and those who obey the righteous laws of the new
arrangement will live forever. Therefore it can be confidently said at
this time that millions now living will never die." Golden Age, Jan. 4,
    1922, p. 217.

"We have no doubt whatever in regard to the chronology relating to
the dates of 1874, 1914, 1918, and 1925. It was on this line of
reckoning that the dates 1874, 1914, and 1918 were located; and the
Lord has placed the stamp of his seal upon 1914 and 1918 beyond any
possibility of erasure. What further evidence do we need? Using this
same measuring line.... it is an easy matter to locate 1925, probably in
the fall, for the beginning of the antitypical jubilee. There can be no
more question about 1925 than there was about 1914." Watchtower
    May 15. 1922, p. 150.

"It is on the basis of such and so many correspondencies - in
accordance with the soundest laws known to science- that we affirm
that, Scripturally, scientifically, and historically, present-truth
chronology is correct beyond a doubt. Its reliability has been
abundantly confirmed by the dates and events of 1874, 1914, and
1918. Present-truth chronology is a secure basis on which the
consecrated child of God may endeavor to search out things to come."
    Watchtower, June 15. 1922.

"This chronology is not of man, but of God. Being of divine origin and
divinely corroborated, present-truth chronology stands in a class by
itself, absolutely and unqualifiedly correct...." Watchtower, July 15,
    1922 p. 217.

'1914 ended the Gentile Times...The date 1925 is even more distinctly
indicated by the Scriptures...by then the great crisis will be reached
    and probably passed'
    Watchtower Sept. 1, 1922, p. 262.

No wonder all the numerous articles hyping and bragging about these historic
conventions NEVER tells us what the message really was, what they were
    actually “advertising”!
Let us try to sum up some facts here. As the Watchtower Society tells us, Jesus
carried out an inspection of all Christianity, and in 1919, after having reviewed
the record of all the sect’s and churches therein, he decided that the sect with
the absolute world record in false prophecies would be best suited as his
representative on earth. We have also learned that he had actually used them
since 1879, and then of course was really responsible for all their false
prophecies himself. But as if this wasn’t enough, when he had chosen them
and poured out his spirit upon them in Cedar Point, in 1919, and 1922, they
had launched upon a feverish campaign whose message was yet another false
prophecy in form of the date 1925! As we can see from the above quotes, this
date was held out as an absolute certainty.

Now, ask yourself this simple question: Is this the effect one would expect
“Jehovah’s spirit” to have upon anybody? If you are anywhere near being an
honest person, you will of course know the answer. And you will of course
know the truth about The Watchtower Society’s claim of being “chosen by the
    Lord”.

So could any of you faithful and loyal Watchtower Witnesses out there tell us
what the “historical facts” show about the choice made by the Lord in 1919? I
bet you will be dead silent. After all the “truth isn’t about facts” as one of your
    best apologists, said it.

    Norm.

Incredible as it may seem the
    February 1. Issue of the
    Watchtower actually yet again
quote the old prune, the talk
    from Cedar Point in 1922,
    “Advertise, advertise,
    advertise”. Of course not one
    word about what they were
    actually advertising back then.
    The whole article is about
    “Jehovah not being late”, based
    on Habakkuk 2: 3:

For [the] vision is yet for the
    appointed time, and it keeps
panting on to the end, and it will
not tell a lie. Even if it should
    delay, keep in expectation of it;
for it will without fail come true.
    It will not be late.

    These articles get lamer and
more far fetched every day as
they jump and skip around in
the Bible to piece together their
wild fantasies. On page 15 it is
    claimed that, like Habakkuk
    Jehovah's servants today
    “know” that “Jehovah will not
be late”. Do you know any
    Jehovah's Witness who “know”
this? If there is one thing anyone
half familiar with the Bible and
    the Watchtower Society should
have learned by now it that they
    don’t KNOW anything.

    According to the Bible the
    apostles was expecting this
much advertised end to come in
    their lifetime. According to the
book of Revelation, it was to
    occur SOON. In case someone
have missed it we just went into
a year with the number 2000 on
it, and what was supposed to
    happen SOON have yet to
    materialize. The Watchtower
    Society has been ranting about
the imminence of the same thing
    for over 100 years without
much to show for them but a lot
    of failure, and yet the
    Watchtower claim that they
KNOW it “will not be late”.
    Dear oh dear, talk about
    meaningless drivel.

On page 23 under one of the
    hilariously idiotic Watchtower
    illustrations § 17 assures the
    reader for the umpteenth time
that they can be SURE that
    Habakkuk’s words will SOON
be fulfilled! Yeah right. Just as
    sure as in: 1874, 1914, 1918,
    1919, 1920, 1925, 1975 etc.

    When will these idiots learn?

    Channel of communication

As I documented in the ”Central
    Dogma” article, the Watchtower
Society was never at any time
    chosen by Christ in 1919,
    naturally because there was no
    such inspection. This claim is
    just as far-fetched and
    ridiculous as similar claims
    made by other religious
    charlatans. The problem
    Rutherford faced when he took
    over after Russell, were the
    ruins of a totally hopeless
    “chronology” which had failed
    completely in all respects. The
    record shows that Rutherford
chose to continue the lies and
    cheating. And the present
    leader’s, which was his pupils,
has continued in his tracks to
this day. It is interesting to
    notice the incredible dishonesty
    with which the Watchtower
    Society treats their own history.

There seem to be no hesitation
    and qualm about laying the
    ultimate responsibility for all
    their false prophecies on
Jehovah of Jesus. I will in the
    following document some clear
    examples of this. As
    demonstrated in the “Central
    dogma” article, absolutely all of
    the prophecies the Watchtower
    Society has presented have
    failed. Still many years after
    these failures, with the full
    knowledge about what they
were, the Society still tells us
    that these prophecies originated
with God. Take a look at this
    example:

    “Flashes of Light-Great
    and Small (Part 2)
    “THE Bible book of
    Revelation has intrigued
    Christians from early
    times. It provides a fine
    example of how the
    light of truth grows ever
    brighter. In 1917,
    Jehovah's people
    published an
    explanation of
    Revelation in the book
    The Finished Mystery.
    It fearlessly exposed
    Christendom's religious
    and political leaders,
    but many of its
    explanations were
    borrowed from various
    sources. Still, The
    Finished Mystery
    served to test the Bible
    Students' loyalty to the
    visible channel Jehovah
    was using.”
    Watchtower May 15.
    1995, page 21.

As late as 1995 the Watchtower
has the nerve to call something
so totally insane as the Finished
    Mystery book, “light of truth”.
Of course they know full well
    that no Jehovah's Witnesses
today have ever read it, and so
they can get away with such an
    outrageous claim.
Just for the record I can present
you with an example of the
    incredible “light” this book
    presented:

    “14:20. And the

    The Finished Mystery,
    1917, pp. 229-230.

This book is chock full of this
kind of “light”. But in spite of
writing such insane drivel as this
    the Bible students remained
    loyal to “the visible channel
    Jehovah was using”, according
    to the above quoted
    Watchtower from 1995. Good
    grief!

    When you read through the
    various Watchtower magazines,
you will very soon realize that
    Brooklyn is counting on the
    average Witness limitless
    ignorance about what was
    actually printed in these highly
    priced publications from those
    years. Anybody who has ever
    read the booklet "Millions Now
    Living May Never Die”, would
be horrified by the fact that the
    Watchtower would claim to be
    under “divine guidance” when
    Rutherford spouted all the
    incredible nonsense about 1925,
    and the resurrection of the
    “ancient worthies”. What kind
of God do they worship in
    Brooklyn? Anyway look for
    yourselves:

    “Worship of the One
    True God Already
    Being Exalted
    So, under divine
    guidance, on Sunday,
    February 24, 1918,
    amid World War I, the
    then president of the
    Watch Tower Bible and
    Tract Society gave a
    well-advertised talk in
    Los Angeles, California,
    U.S.A. His subject was
    a startling one but was
    in line with the meaning
    of the momentous times
    as viewed from the
    Bible standpoint. The
    subject was "Millions
    Now Living May Never
    Die."
    Watchtower July, 15.
    1981, page 20.

    Equally astonishing is the
amnesia of all the people that
gets their “stories” printed in the
    Watchtower, under the most
ludicrous titles. Just take a look
    at this example:

    “Over Half a Century
    of Satisfying Service
    Few people today
    realize what a fight had
to be put up in those
    days to maintain the
    right to preach the
    Bible's message. J. F.
    Rutherford's famous
    lecture "The World Has
    Ended, Millions Now
    Living Will Never Die,"
    seemed like the prelude
    to very exciting times,
    especially for
    colporteurs. My
    companion and I had
the joy of being able to
work right up to the end
    of World War I.
    Imagine the joy we got,
    too, out of the
    marvelous,
    hope-inspiring
    conventions at Cedar
    Point, Ohio, in 1919
    and 1922. Never will I
    forget the call to
    advertise the Kingdom
    and the zeal of the
    assembled throng!”
    Watchtower August 15.
    1969, page 508.

    One wonders what the
“Millions” book has to do with
    the “Bible’s message”. This
    person claims the he: “Never
will I forget the call to advertise
the Kingdom”, and yet he has
    apparently completely forgotten
to tell us that the main point in
    this campaign was that this
    “Kingdom” would arrive in
    1925! How odd, wonder why?

    Another example of the general
    amnesia among old Witnesses
we can see here. This time it is
    the famous Konrad Franke:

    "Jehovah Is My
    Shepherd. I Shall Lack
    Nothing"
    As told by Konrad
    Franke ONE rainy
    summer day in 1920 my
    father invited me to
    accompany him to a
    meeting being held by
    the "Earnest Bible
    Students…. What we
    heard was truly good
    news….. Some weeks
    later an opportunity
    presented itself. The
    outstanding public
    meeting campaign
    featuring the talk "The
    World Has Ended,
    Millions Now Living
    Will Never Die" had
    reached into our
    neighborhood. What a
    joy it was to invite
    people to attend this
    lecture!” Watchtower
    March 15. 1963, page
    180.

To call a false prophecy “truly
good news” is of course what
    can be expected from loyal
    Witnesses. This next example
    however seem to reach a
    hitherto unparalleled level of
stupidity. It is so braindead that
    I leave it without further
    comment:

    In Step with the Faithful
    Organization
    However, there were
    some problems to face.
    During the years from
    1918 to 1922 there
    were many tests of
    faith. Many voices were
    being heard, all
    claiming to be God's
    channel of truth. It was
    the time for the sifting
    process that
    accompanied the
    coming of Jehovah to
    his temple for judgment.
    (1 Pet. 4:17, 18)
    Earnestly I prayed to
    Jehovah for guidance.
    How great the relief
    when I saw clearly who
    the "faithful and
    discreet slave" is!
    (Matt. 24:45-51) Then
    the second president of
    the Watch Tower
    Society, J. F.
    Rutherford, came to
    Liverpool to deliver the
    lecture "Millions Now
    Living Will Never Die."
    What an exhilarating
    experience it was to see
    the hall packed out,
    with thousands more on
    the outside!”
    Watchtower April 1.
    1963, page 218.

Do you know who was really
    behind the “Millions” lecture?
    “Booze” Rutherford ? Wrong
    mate. As usual the Watchtower
    knows:

    "Jehovah Is in His Holy
    Temple"
    Stirring up increasing
    interest in them,
    Jehovah caused to be
    preached from 1918
    onward the startling
    public message
    "Millions Now Living
    Will Never Die,"
    Watchtower November
    15. 1955, page 698.

    Imagine that! JEHOVAH
    HIMSELF WAS BEHIND THE
    “MILLIONS” CAMPAIGN
    ADVERTISING THE END IN
    1925! Jehovah was actively
    promoting a false prophecy! I
bet you didn’t know that. And
what make the whole thing far
worse is that this statement is
    made in 1955, when the
    Watchtower Society knew full
well that what they claim is that
    “Jehovah caused to be
    preached” a totally false
    message!

As late as in 1987 the
    Watchtower actually write stuff
    like this:

    “For decades before
    that date, Jehovah's
    anointed ones published
    Biblical truths, such as
    in the famous series
    Studies in the Scriptures
    (1886-1917). They also
    distributed many
    informative booklets
    and tracts. During
    World War I, there
    came opposition, testing
    and sifting, and a
    slackening of their
    activities. But in 1919
    the anointed remnant
    went forth with
    renewed zeal to
    proclaim Bible truths.
    As Jesus in 30 C.E.
    could say that he was
    anointed to preach "a
    release to the captives
    and a recovery of sight
    to the blind," so could
    these modern-day
    anointed ones. After a
    thrilling convention
    September 1-7, 1919,
    they vigorously surged
    ahead in preaching
    truths that liberated
    countless people.- Luke
    4:18.
    8 Consider, for
    example, the Bible
    study aid The Harp of
    God (1921), which
    presented vital truths as
    if they were ten strings
    on a harp.”
    Watchtower January 1.
    1987, page 24-5.

    Today the Watchtower Society
wouldn’t print and sell any of
the books in the series, “Studies
    in the Scriptures”. If any
    Jehovah's Witnesses today went
    out and promoted the stuff
printed in those books he would
be DF’d before he could say
    apostate! Not even the present
    leaders of the Watchtower
    Society today view these books
    as “Biblical truths”, so why
    write such blatant drivel. Have
any of you actually read the
Harp of God? If not, I will
    recommend it, particularly the
    earlier editions. Did you know
    that aluminum, combined
    harvesters, and sewing machines
were signs of the end? To top
    this, the above article even
    mentioned the “Finished
    Mystery” as an example of
    “Biblical truths” published by
    “Jehovah’s anointed”, in a
footnote. It is quite clear that
the guys in Brooklyn are very
    well acquainted with the
    average Jehovah's Witnesses
    knowledge of Watchtower
    history. The Jehovah's
    Witnesses must be among the
    most thoroughly screwed and
cheated people in the world, and
to judge by the apologist’s here
on H2O, some of them are more
    than willing victims.

    Norm.
