I wish I had done half so well. By the way, those are tears of happiness.

    Respectfully,

you have more guts than me.

I keep my thoughts to myself around family,

so as not to lose them.

    I admire your resolve.

she told me she’d have to go since her head had begun to hurt badly

Confession, what she said in the above quote is not a bad sign. I had the same experience years ago with a young pioneer who was under going a stressful time in his life. I spilled all the beans to him also. His head began to hurt so badly, he couldn't participate in the physical work we were doing at the time. In a couple of days or so, he came back and was on his way out, with speed and fire in his eyes.

The fact that your mother's head hurt, was that you were touching and releasing "verboten" thoughts deep down in her own self. You were breaking through cognitive dissonance.

Thanks, Belbab...for reviving this old thread--and for your comments. I do hope that my letter to her will bust that cognitive dissonance all to hell.

The Watchtower often uses the expression thinking Christians in their writings, but the fact is they do not like anything resembling 'thinking Christians'!

You got that right, Outaservice. There's a bit about that in the poem/song I wrote, "It's The Truth!"

They don’t like us going to college

Lest Satan’s world should us seduce

It is only now that I acknowledge

It’s to keep us real dumb and obtuse

Keep dusting and sweeping, stay in our safekeeping

From birth till you’re long in the tooth

Don’t plan to retire; the end will transpire

Armageddon will come, it’s “The Truth!”

It’s the Truth, it’s the Truth!

    Let’s be resolute

Tho the Truth changes from day to day

It’s the Truth, it’s the Truth!

    Tho it might not compute

We’ll call it “The Truth” anyway!
