Hey Mrs. McD, you see me here daily too! I really like this forum! I am very impressed with everybody here who posts. The heart and compassion here is astounding! And the humor is so special!

This board is not something to be ashamed of visiting. It is a place to vent and share with fellow humans who really do care.

And you know that your voice is being heard and read and helping others who are in pain.

But I did learn I had to be a little disciplined. I run and do a load and come right back! Or I do the dishes or run the vac and then come back.

Yeah where is Horrible Life? Seems to me I remember her saying the same things when I first came on board last year. Our lives are constantly changing whether we notice it or not.
    I hope she is ok.

So weird seeing this topic this morning - I didn't think I was too obsessed until last night when it appeared in my dreams - yes, a monitor with the active topics page - I even remember talking about some of the posters (but not what I was saying - before you start trying to prise confessions out of me)

I think my subconscious must be doing a spring-clean or something!

This community and all on line virtual communities are useful if used up to a point but they shouldn't become substitutes for real life socialising. Having said that this forum is quite amusing and informative to be on. It also has its own share of flaming wars and trolling.

LOL Sad Emo. That's better than my dream the other night - having Charles Taze Russell to dinner.

Like someone has said, it's the camaraderie of the Congo without the nasty stuff ( elders, sore bum, constipated hymn singing etc.)

also found some interesting stuff on google about internet addiction!

Internet Addiction Disorder is a growing problem. British psychologists have suggested that one in 200 Internet users display symptoms of addiction. People who spend 38 hours or more each week on the Internet - which is not demanded by their work - are likely to be addicted. The warning signs

The signs of Internet addiction are similar to other forms of addiction. If any of the following ring true, you may need help.

    • Most importantly – is the amount of time you spend on the Internet having a negative effect on your social life and personal relationships, and possibly also your job?

    • Do you find it difficult to manage your time - perhaps cutting down on sleep, skipping meals and seeing other people less?

    • Do you ‘sneak’ on-line when you should be doing something else?

    • Do you need to spend more and more time online to get the same amount of satisfaction?

    • What about if you can’t get online for a while – do you get withdrawal symptoms? Things like tremors, irritability, anxiety about what you’re missing online, dreaming about the Internet, and possibly even making typing movements with your fingers are all signs of withdrawal.

    • Are the costs involved putting strain on your finances?

    • Do others complain and do you deny to them and yourself that you have a problem?

I spent time on the net in the past, although never a discussion forum, but never felt so drawn to a site as i do this one. and it seems that more than 1 in 200 posters here have similar feelings.

I too love this board. Even when I'm not posting as much, I am lurking....ever lurking. I do try to keep it balanced with my "real" life, however--but this is the place where people get those deep, harwired things floating around in my psyche. It's not like I can go to my book club and say "hey, remember all those demonized smurf stories??! Those were hilarious!"

    *crickets chirping*

So, I for one wholeheartedly support your "addiction". One thing that keeps me coming back time and time again (even though I quit for about 3 years), is that there are so many broken, bruised people who stumble out of the org or lurk on the edge, feeling terrified, undone, unloved. They can come here and even if they never reach out, just knowing that there is life after the organization is vitally important.

    Love,

    ~Brigid
