Curious... Why so many planets?

    To address your original question:

The mistake you're making is in thinking that there is a grand design to it all. The fact is that there is NOT. One thing that we've learned from examining life on this planet is that lifeforms can be remarkably hardy, surviving in the low pressure, low temperature, high radiation upper atmosphere and in the extremely high pressure superheated temperatures of deep sea thermal vents (and some of these critters enjoy a very non-"standard" energy cycle). It is quite likely that somewhere out there the may be planets with life on them - and there will be some among those with intelligent life. Why? Because life seeks it's own fulfillment. It is natural to do so.

There is no spirit realm populated with any kind of beings. The folks who tell you there is such a realm are only trying to use their phony invention to take authority to control you.

There is not a single thing of value in the entire history of man that materialized out of some spirit realm. Mystical manna has never fallen from the sky. Everything man has, good or bad, is a result of his mind and his labor, nothing more.

Don't fear boogeymen, and don't bow down to someone else's imagination.

    Keep asking questions.

Shaneliza, may you have peace... and sorry, I can't PROVE anything... at least, not to your satisfaction. A questions was asked; an answer was provided. That's all I have been granted to do.

SlayerDude's Bro... peace to you, too, and guess what? Honey, I am a SERIOUS 'trekkie'... from WAY back. I have watched practically every episode from Kirk to Cisco to Janeway, seen EVERY big screen movie, and I know most 'species' from Klingon to Vulcan to Bjoran to the Gen Hadar and the Dominion. So what? I am also a Star Wars, Star Troopers, Last Star Fighter, Battlestar Gallactica, and Andromeda fan. And let's not even talk about Matrix... WHEN will 2 and 3 EVER get here? I LOVE sci-fi, dude. BUT... that is purely my flesh and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what I 'hear'... from my Father and Lord... through the spirit. I promise you. You asked, and I shared with you what I was 'given' on the matter. Now, I can put faith in what I heard; you, though, must decide whether you will 'hear'... or refrain. In truth, though, you COULD have just asked them... yourself.

Logical, dear, DEAR one... honey, I don't know. I haven't heard. If there is something, eventually it will be revealed, I guess, if my Father and Lord deems it 'worthy'. But I honestly have been given no answer on what you've asked, so I must say that I do not know. Do such things exist on Mars? I have heard so, but I do not KNOW so.

Anyway, peace to you all and 'live long and prosper'... spiritually.

I'm beginning to suspect that AGuest's tongue is planted so FAR into her(?) cheek she could be in danger of swallowing it. Be careful, Sista!

Dear h20... in truth, I don't know why. Because you 'can't handle the truth', perhaps? Peace to you.

Nathan, no dear, no 'tongue in cheek'. I spoke the truth. I have a question that I will post in a separate thread. Perhaps you can 'enlighten' me. Peace to you, as well.

Here's a link to Drakes Equation. http://www.seti-inst.edu/science/drake-bg.html I don't know if you've ever heard of this but it does have some bearing on your question.

Have to run... time to return close to the mall.

Dear AGUEST,you are sweet, you have my sympathy,

There are so many planets because there are sooo many stars. There are so many stars because there are so many galaxies.

Last I heard, our Galaxy probably has about a million stars with solar systems quite similar to our own with a planet of similar size and in a similar distance to the sun. If this is some kind of recipe for life...

There are something like 100 billion galaxies. Somewhere out there has got to be another Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.

Well, actually, remember the teaching that the earth is the center of the universe with all else orbiting it?

The idea that the earth is the only planet that has life is just that same earth-centric viewpoint stated in another way.

And remember that absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Just because our technology hasn't progressed to the point where we can discover other planets or other life doesn't prove it isn't there.

Frankly, I believe the universe TEEMS with life. And when the time is right, we'll all be aware of each other. There is apparently something about the cosmic economy that's keeping communication at bay for the time being. But certainly this won't last forever. I mean, we've discovered quite a few planets in the last twenty years. Sooner or later we must discover life.

The sooner the better. Can you imagine the effect on life on this planet to realize we're not alone in the universe? It would be staggering.

    Great topic.

We will have confirmation of primitive bacterial life on the surface of mars within our lifetime, we will likley be bringing back fossils also indicating mars at one time teemed with life.
