I once got stuck in the middle of a massive bridge between Italy and Austria, due to a sudden heavy downpouring of snow, the weight of the snow broke the windscreen wipers and the lack of viability meant we couldn't drive off the bridge. We were stuck there for over an hour thinking we were going to freeze to death.

In the 1987 (ish?) hurricane (we don't get many memorable ones in the UK, phew!) a house across the street was hit by lightning - half the tiles got blown off plus a couple of windows came out. I saw it happen - truly amazing but frightening. Then later in the night our roof got blown off by the wind, scary because I was only young and I was in bed when it happened. I was woken by the sound of the roof going - followed by rainwater running down the light fitting and landing on the floor next to my bed! I thought the whole house was going to blow down.

There is extreme weather outside just now. Actually there is a cyclone approaching. There is a very real danger involved, but I think I'll be fine.
