Well, long time ago a MS told me, as I was arriving to the meeting and he was shaking my hand.

Don't you think the opening on your skirt is too long?

I respondend; Yes, thank you!!!! (actually it wasn't, it was one ot those long skirts with a long opening but it wasn't showing more than normal)

next Sunday I wore the same skirt to the meeting just to make my point accross that I was not going to do anything that he said.

He never approched me with any other suggestion.

The PO of one congregation I used to attend called a sister on her wearing a G-string under her clothes.

The thing is: She was wearing flowing skirt that didn't cling to any part of her body but her waist. So he must have been looking really hard to figure out she was wearing one.

Yes, I remember the slit brouhaha. It was said that the slit opening should not go past the knee but some overzealous brothers applied that to mean any slit.

Some sisters had dresses to their ankles with slits to their knees so some thought they were showing too much skin!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just showing what they always had.

"Way back in the 1980s...I know, I know, ancient history...there was a big to-do about wearing acid washed and ripped jeans."

When I went to Bethel in 1987 (England) I saw all kinds of guys working the presses wearing jeans. I was in pants myself because I had been touring all day in London and wore tennis shoes. No one ever said anything to me. As a matter of fact, I was treated with much kindness and shown the facility and given a meal. It was true hospitality.

I wonder whether the elders would have counselled John the Baptist for wearing Camel Haired clothes and not let him baptise people until he wore a white tee shirt and shorts instead?????

What other things are not allowed now?

How would the whole culottes/suit shorts go down for instance what are in fashion at the moment? Much better for the ministry I bet?

Maybe if the Governing Body (i.e. God) were paying you more for your services, you could afford newer jeans?

This topic points out how insane the JW cult really is. Looking back makes one shake their head and wonder how they were ever part of the JW looney-tunes!

Our PO once came up to me and said "how much" and I said "sorry?" and he explained that in old times only prostitutes wore skirts with slits and the length corresponded to how much they charged.

As I had a modest skirt on with a small slit just so I could damn well walk!! I said.. "Guess I need a bigger slit Eric, dont want anyone accusing me of being cheap!" and I laughed, he didn't, but what could he do, I was a woman and had no privileges to remove!!!

Cheesed me off for years after, what a disgusting thing to say to a young girl in the cong.

Although a CO we had then (anyone remember Brent Smith?) did comment to one of my friends that he could see through her top, which i thought was hideous, if something HAD to be said then I think he should have asked his wife to do it! Just an opportunity for him to embarass her I think.

Anyone remember modesty patrol at conventions?? Sisters that were asked to go around and comment to others if they were dressed innapropriately!!

AAARRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHH, Once again, I cant believe I was there so long.
