The 1914 date is definitely wrong it was taken by Russell from the adventists who had gone hysterical during the 19th century over the end of the world coming soon. Originally 1914 was to be the Armageddon start. Russell was badly humiliated when it didn't come.

When you say you are looking for the truth, I empathise. But one thing you will see here a LOT is that people back up most of what they say with references, scripture, quotes from recognised sources etc.

It wont take you too long in your studies to find that the WT rarely if ever do this. Just do what the organisation tell you to do, examine the scriptures daily to see if these things are so.

Keep checking and cross referencing, and asking and try to filter out all the stuff you've been told over and over the years. Gradually I think you will find the mists will clear and the distance between what you've been taught and the truth will become an expanse!

I would suggest borrowing as many old publications, especially Russel and Rutherford's masterpieces from the KH library, that will answer your question on what makes a false prophet. I know what you mean about not feeling any closer to Jehovah at the meetings. Been there, done that.Keep praying and God will guide you. HI there, it's nice to have a new voice and perspective on the forum :D...i'm sure though, as others have already said, that you will find a great deal of support and understanding with many here, if that's what you're after...

I think many of us can relate to the fear that you experienced in posting on here for the first time, but I believe that is as Ballistic said, is a testament to the unhealthy control the org has over your ability to question and research its teachings. I believe it discredits your own intellectural capacity, and ability to decipher for yourself what truth is.

So matey really try and fight the fear as best you can, and to put yoruself back into control, cos only you know what is best and right for you...so keep tuning in to your own thoughts and feelings and you will go far...much luv frog x
