I love Crisis of Conscience. I'm almost through it. It took me years to be able to get one too. I know that sounds lame, but raising hungry kids there was always a priority-FOOD.

I ended up being given one free from a dear friend who provided them for me by the case. I have quite a few available right now if anyone needs a copy and just can't spare the cost. PM me if you'd like one. I send them with another great book that was the very first non JW book I ever read. It had such an impact on my heart I ended up getting a case free from the author who I got to meet in person. (I cried and cried and couldn't talk)

Ray makes it all clear. Why we followed "followers of followers, and were victims of victims"

"You men are arrogant and selfish in your pursuit of organizational interests over the interests of Christ's brothers. You equate the two, but they are not equivalent. The success or failure of a secular tool should be of minor importance compared to the success or failure of a person's relationship with God.

Superbly put Auld Soul. I’ve read CofC twice and it’s moved me very much. It’s certainly stirred up a lot of anger in me when I see how these wicked men who dare to say they speak on behalf of God run their disgusting empire. When new posters come onto the forum I nearly always recommend that they read this book. How anyone could stay in after reading it is beyond me.

Maybe you might consider writing to RF and telling him what you thought? He can be emailed at [email protected]

That's the essence of the issue they put their own interests above those of their followers that's why there is no real fraternal love in this org despite their loud claims that they are the one and only truth (true religion) on this earth.

The lower layers reflect the attitudes at the top they don't care about what they, the GB, say but rather they imitate what they do.

I was shook to the core while reading this book as well, and I am not a witness. The close family on my husband's side that I cherished are all but gone now.
Reading that book in my own house, was like I was wearing a garlic necklace carrying a crucifix held high in the air. I had no idea the nazi book burning mentality would be so quick to judge, where, before the intrusion of the "society" into our home our family enjoyed freedom, tolerance, charity, love, and an innocence that the watchtower magazines quickly stole away.

Makes you just want to hug some of them & not let them go until they believe that you love them and would never hurt them and reading a book does not make you their enemy.

I found that Franz's second book - "In search of Christian Freedom" is a must read, an execellent follow up. Its a way back to faith if thats what you're looking for.

I have to say that until I read CoC, I really didn't feel any contempt or bitterness towards the WTS. But then I was hit hard by the double standard with Mexico and Malawi. Was African blood somehow less precious? Or was it that they stood to gain more financially by letting things slide for the mexicans? That just made it all fall down for me. The GB weren't just deluded fools, that were in denial but sincere about their supposed truth. They are power mongers interested only in satiating their craving for self agrandizing. They're heartless leeches that have gotten bloated on the blood of the poor people they've deluded and destroyed. I would love to see the day they in turn burst.

Immediately on being df'd I joined this forum, and was immediately encouraged to read CoC. I can't say how much of my disillusionment is due to CoC, but I'm grateful for the Mexico/Malawi documentation as otherwise I wouldn't have believed it.

Hey congratulations on getting out, and all the best as you get on with life!!

    Good for you AuldSoul!

Although you knew the book was full of truths that spoke negative of this cult, reading it through gives an even more transparent view of the organisation.

Isn't it amazing that they think that no one is intelligent enough to figure it out on their own? I didn't read COC either, until several years after I left!!! What that book did for me was confirm what I already knew basically and then threw in a few more facts....

    Amen SWALKER!

All of us were intelligent enough to figure it out long ago.....we just didn't know the road to take to get there, that being a "willingness" to open our minds to the fact "we may not have the truth afterall", and the tools or know-how as to where to start looking for the most part.

Also, how true your statement is about the book "confirming" doubts we had somewhere in our mind, things that never jived. The book brought it all together.
