I Agree pal, a total farce !!! What annoys me though is that it's only now that I relaise what a farce it is !! I spent my younger years growing up expecting the end of the world, and, even though I had given the JW crowd a wide berth, I still showed up so every April, just incase !!!STILL WAITING !!!!

Yes the WT ritual would definately be a slap in the face of the bible's jesus, but gnostic? I dont think so.

That's the whole point. They want to make people feel like outsiders. It's part of the recruitment strategy. They hope that these people will make progress™ and become JWs themselves, and making them initially feel awkward is the first step. They do the same thing at Amway meetings.

Also, they enjoy looking down on people, and having worldlings™ among them at the memorial helps to feed their insatiable need to feel superior.

What can we expect from a cultic religion, they will go out of their way to twist both the letter and the spirit of the gospel to get that two class system where one of the classes can not even be part of the Christian covenent. They were cunningly alienated from the Christ.

I think there are many areas of JW's which are questionable, obviosuly coming up for easter, the "memorial", (Nissan 14 - i can never rember if it's Nisan or Nissan, or somethign else !!), is probably the hot topic of the moment. Anyway, as a newcomer to this forum, I have enjoyed the various peices of input an look forward to discussing more JW issues in th future.

a jw once remarked to me something about the memorial, or the once a year thing, sorry can't remember exact context, but i remember saying that the mass celebrated by some, or the eucharist, - in response to Jesus' command - AS OFTEN as you do this remember me. Meaning they choose to remember the sacrifice EVERYDAY, not just once a week, or once a year.

there was an honest moment of ...that makes sense - remember everyday -... then he quickly shook his head & put the rose coloured glasses back on.

I got another invite stuck in my door this morning. This invite looked different. It was printed in pink, which I don't remember with the previous invites. They are having the Mem in a local hotel's main ballroom this year. Maybe they don't want to do shifts so they decided to have one giant meeting. I don't know and I'm not asking.

I wonder how many completely clueless people they have invited who are going to be scratching their heads at the dull talk and weird ritualistic passing around of the wine and matzah with no one partaking (at least no one ever did in the years I attended).

I remember when my son's girlfriend came with us once (by that time I'd given up trying to control him so tightly). She was polite but I could tell she didn't understand what all the fuss was about. I was beginning to wonder myself so I didn't even try to explain it to her. lol

I mean, we used to think,"what are the chances, eh ???, 144,000 of them and we just happen to have 2 of them in Greenock, Scotland" ???!!!!

In the early '70s there were two "partakers" in the KH I attended. We moved to NY and the KH I attended here....had two more....a husband and wife team.

I have been introduced to or knew of at least 10 more in my final years of JWdom.....just in this area of a few KHs.

Wouldn't it be something to see a huge spike in the number of partakers this year? How would they explain that one? hahahaha.
