Good question Zagor, this always intrigued me when I was a Dub. It’s the life blood though that surely is the key here? My understanding was that the inevitable remaining blood was ok, but due to the fact that a border could not be defined, it was possible that any residue could be part of the life blood. Therefore efforts should be taken to eradicate it, which could be taken to the extreme. Surely therefore vegetarianism is the ideal path?
Blood in other products ( I remember we were warned off Walls ice cream for a while which was supposedly using blood as a colorant) could conceivably be the original life blood which was simply being recycled.

It is not possible to drain all or even most blood from the meat that's why it is a good source of iron which comes from the remaing blood and gives it its colour (the iron in hemoglobin).
The Jews are following common sense by saying that saving lives is above the law why couldn't the JWs also do the same?
