Are you ex-jw's serving Jehovah and Jesus out of fear of Armageddon/Hellfire?
Uh....no. Not at all. Did you mean to say JW's??
I think you've got it totally backwards. I am freed of the fear I lived with all my life as a jw.

The fear is still working its way out of me. Every once and a while for a short amount of time I'll starting thinking about things and the fear almost brings me back to the WT. I kind of do a little "wake up call" and finally start to see the light at the end of the tunnel again. I've noticed that these little spells are getting fewer and far between.
Yairs... if god is a god of fear, I'm not interested in that paradise.
refuses to serve Jehovah and Jesus out of "fear".
I recently got in touch with a few of my JW friends (4 to be exact). I always tell them up front that I am inactive, not going to meetings, blah, blah, blah. Everyone is okay talking with me via email and when they asked why I no longer go, I always say "because I was tired of living in fear". NONE OF THEM ever asked me what that mean't. They either didn't want to go there or they knew what I was talking about.
Purza (who can say she is no longer living in fear)
I know what you mean about the fear merry go round. I still can't accept a teaching of hellfire, it doesn't jive with the God of the New Testement.
I don't know any mainstream/born again believers that love and worship God out of fear. We love Him because He first loved us. When I left the god of the Watchtower, the God of the Bible found me. He is a wonderful, loving, slow to anger, gracious God.
It is not about fear it is about surrender. We surrender our whole being to the God who created us, and sent Jesus (Himself) to do the time for all our crimes, so we don't have to suffer for our mistakes. He took care of that for us. I love Him, He is easy to love when you get to know Him.
People sometimes will take things out of context (WTBTS) and make our awesome Creator out to look like an ass. Which is stupid. Look around us, what incredible beauty everywhere. He did it all for us. Every butterfly, every sunrise, every soft breeze, every bite of food, they are all gifts. Even the bad times become sweet when you go through them with the Son.
Fear...only of my own personal weakness. I never want to be out of His will, because all His thoughts toward me are good. His will for me is good. He is good. God is good all the time, all the time, God is good.
Your statement is based on incidental evidence. I know of NO born again Christian who is serving out of fear, none. Now, there may be a lot of border line types that SAY they are Christians in order to get 'fire insurance'...they have missed the point entirely and probably do not have a personal relationship and belief in Christ. You don't get forgiven because of your own good deeds or alleged good character. None of us are good enough on our own. Grace is freely offered. Saved by grace alone and faith alone in the one sacrifice that God provided: Jesus the Christ.

What is not clear is whether you base your beliefs on the pages you have torn out of your Bible or the pages that are left.
In any case, the so called 'word of God' has to be seriously edited to eliminate fear from the equation. After all 'God's word' states that, fear of God is the beginning of wisdom - unless that is one of the pages you have torn out?
Give us a break!
I bet if you ask most ex-JW's or born agains why do they serve 90% of them will say because they don't want to be destroyed or go to hell.
As a born-again Christian I have no fear of hell.
I attend church because I enjoy being there. No one is saved by attending church. You are only saved by God's grace. All you need to do is to admit that you are a sinner, believe that Christ died on the cross for your sins, repent of your sins and accept Christ as your personal Savior.
Anyone who says that they attend church because they don't want to go to hell is not a true Christian.
All you need to do is to admit that you are a sinner, believe that Christ died on the cross for your sins, repent of your sins and accept Christ as your personal Savior.
And if you don't?
