a few weeks ago we were cleaning the hall and one of the ministerial servants that is in my CBS made what i thought was a weird comment to me.......... what is your take? we are almost done, and he says "Me, thanks for your help!" I was like "what?" so he repeats "thanks for your help" ok,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, HE WAS NOT EVEN IN CHARGE OF THE CLEANING(WE ALL KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE), ACTUALLY NO ONE WAS, BUT THE BS OVERSEER WAS THERE AND HELPING ALSO. ..........................
so i quip back "oh ok,yeah, and thanks for YOUR help mr. young MS" maybe i am taking it the wrong way but it wasn't even HIS assignment to get done, it was the WHOLE bookstudy's and then it was the elders job to make sure we did not screw it up.............................me ...................................................sorry , having trouble with the formatting...

It may be that he meant 'thanks for your help because if you had not appeared I would have had more work assigned to me!'.
He may have been sincere. I would be on guard, though....but that's just me!

Did he actually call you "me?" If so he's spotted you here.
If not, he's a typical ms who is working his way to the top. Next time just say "I wasn't helping you, I was working for Jehovah."

I don't think he was acting like he was in charge. In almost every group I've been in, most of the dubs come up with excuses to avoid cleaning....so it was usually us same 4 suckers who'd clean the whole hall. (Spring and fall cleanup were even worse --- less than a dozen people show between 3 congregations)
I agree with Nina, and I'd say he was showing his gratitude for your actually coming.

Next time do what so many of the elders wives do. Just sit there on your hands, and chit chat. Let the "example setters" do all the work. Almost all the times I cleaned the hall that's what happened.

The correct response to him would have been, "I'm just a good-for-nothing slave. What I have done is what I ought to have done."

since the hall is in a rural area we just do it after the meeting, so just about all of us were there and helping... actually we had TOO much help.
the kid is a little annoying because he was "fast-tracked" to be a MS and would love to go to bethel. basically he is one of those guys that pioneers with his new wife, prepares for his constant meeting parts, takes care of stuff around the hall, eats, sleeps, then repeats it all the next day..
too bad half of our MS's can't even give a talk because of age, or limited english vocabulary....
btw, he has made comments to slight me in the past, i think that he kinda looks down on anyone whom he thinks if below him spiritually, especially if they are older and actually has a life. -

Its easy to be over sensitive and get irked at little comments like that because sometimes in an effort to sound humble and thankful, you can sound condescending. As a former MS myself, I made a point to show gratitude to people who helped out to clean the hall as I was always the one to initiate the cleaning. Likely, he is just trying to be nice and set a good example. I wouldnt get all uppety about it....

Sounds like a little punk ass Elder in training. Those comments are supposed to be encouraging I guess... or condescending depending on what he had in mind. Just ignore it and go about your business as he is a little retard.

I've got the official prognosis:
Ministerial Servant Disease
A friend of mine told me along time ago about this. Take a brother who is probably the most physical non spiritual person you have ever met and make him a MS. Next thing you know he simply can't just say hello, now its...
No really, how are you doing? Is there anything that I can help you with?
Next thing you know they are sharing and caring so much you want to barf. Then about a year or two later, they are removed. Either that or they become elders. It depends upon the situation.
