CO-HABITING makes women FAT

A recent study published today says that women who marry or move in with a partner start to pile on the pounds?

I wonder if the saying is true - "a single woman gets home from work exhausted. Looks at what's in the refridgerator and goes to bed. A married woman gets home looks at what's in the bed and goes to the fridge".

I know plenty of women who piled on weight after moving in. Rarely the other way round. Do you think this is true of men also?

Maybe they don't feel the need to look after themselves as well once they've captured their prey.

Am I gonna get hit now?

Ummm , this coming from a fat Hamster

Actually i suppose this is true but i think it also goes both ways because i have seen singles that now have a steady partner and the men have big gutts.

I have seen several men pile on the pounds when new wife, perhaps second time around, wants to prove what a good cook she is. She kills him with loving & home made cakes

    Hahahaha!!!

I've seen it happen to both partners after getting married. They change to a "the hell with it, no more wedding day pics to be taken" attitude and then they gain weight. Whether ppl get married or not, it's a choice.

I suspect this has to do with the way single people are more conscious of their appearances whereas people in a cohabiting relationship will "let themselves go" since they have already "caught" someone.

I agree that this goes both ways. However you can't simply generalize based on attuide. For instance when I got married I gain 30 lbs (ouch!) which I lost after my divorce, but my wife ate way more than me and she didn't gain a pound. Some people just gain wieght easier than others, it has more to do with genetics than anything else.

Well, I can tell you for a fact, in the five years we've been married, my husband has gained eighty pounds, while I've been eating healthy, exercising, and LOST 23 pounds! It drives me nuts, the oversize shirts he wears to hide the huge belly, and when we go to a restaurant, he gives no thought to his weight when he orders fries, pasta, etc.

Every spring, he promises to start hiking with me and never goes.

A few weeks ago, his secretary from work called him up to say she had seen me. (hadn't seen her since I lost my weight.) She is gay. She said, "Wow, I saw your wife yesterday. She is HOT! You better lose some weight, buddy, or you're gonna lose her!" That shook him up. For about a week, now he's back to cherry pie. Arrrrgh!!!

In our case the man let himself go after getting married. He says it's because he's just so happy and comfortable, he feels he can let his hair down. His weight really upsets me, because I'm afraid he'll develop diabetes, high blood pressure, or have a heart attack. Other than that, he's a good man, with a heart of gold.

The generalisation probably has some truth to it, but I've lost weight since I got married; we've both been working at staying healthy.

My hubby (ITIS) used to call it P.M.E. - post marital expansion! lol!

He said you could tell the girls that would get PME. He is so happy that didn't happen to me. We both watch our weight and waistlines.
