Yeah I upgraded my PADI training to Rescue diver last year, I had an instructor all to myself in Fiji for five days, it was luxury. I do love to dive, it's a world I couldn't imagine, and suddenly I started thinking in more 3D - left, right and UP.

Good luck - you'll not regret it, as it's a wonderful hobby.

I still dive whenever I'm near water on vacation, but I rarely get time to dive at home. It's kinda ironic, really, as we have some of the clearest waters in Britain.

It is a fun thing. I was certified way back in 1969 (pre-armeggeddon) and gave it up after baptism. So it's been a long time. I found out I can just take a refresher course to get recertified.

Listening to Megadude regale me with his cave diving adventures makes me want to start diving again.

Yay! I passed! Now I've just got my open water dives in three weeks and that's it.

Old thread but I did a search, so, sue me :) I'm a diver and I got certified in the north west but since then I've moved to the Florida Keys and I go diving every week. I just love it. As my old instructor said (he was old) it's the most fun you can have wearing rubber :)

Old tread but I will still comment, PADI Dive master and free diver, free dived to 80-85 feet last year.

Free diver? I'm fascinated by that.
So you basically go down with no equipment except for mask & fins?

How long can you hold your breath?

I never liked being weighed down by the equipment. In Hawaii I intentionally went snorkeling rather than scuba diving...but liked to go to the depth of the scuba groups and swim circles around them :)

    I dive Nic.

Started in October of last year, love it. I went the BSAC route though, rather than the PADI. It's more club orientated, get to meet other divers and become part of a club, whereas the PADI is better if you just want it for holidays and stuff.

Is it Stoney you're going to be doing it in?

Edit ... Aaarghh...I've just noticed it's an old thread bumped. There should be some warning or something, anyway i dive.

Huh, funny you should ask that. I've been thinking to ask the same question. I've enrolled in a club back home, want to do some cave diving. I'll send you a link to our club web page if you want.
