My memory may be wrong, but about 12-14 years ago wasn't there an article in the Awake on diarrhea? I remember this old sister making a comment about how "she couldn't get enough of the magazine" because she was placing so many. . . the whole KM was practically rolling!

I always tried to present the Awake to the householder first . .because it didn't seem as nutty as some of the Watchtower covers.

With the Asleep being distributed once a month, it will take the Dubs 8 years to attain a college education. How come Dub parents aren't up in arms!

    1) Starting in January 2006 (this year) only one Awake is being printed per month. More copies of that issue are being printed though to be a "companion" to the WT which continues to be printed twice a month..

    2) Bound volumes are still being printed for both the WT and the Awake but with flimsier covers and paper. It has been speculated on JWD that the WT/Awakes will be combined into one bound volume starting with this year, 2006.

As long as there are many JWs without access to computers and there are many even in this country, the paper version of the WT and Awake will continue. The WTS wants to be sure that the rank and file have access to the written rules.

I thought my mom said to me that all books that were hard bound were switched over to soft (makes it easier for witness in jail to hand out to other inmates) and that the bound volumes were discontinued altogether. But I could be wrong about it because after a few minutes of the update I do start to hear "blah, blah, blah, ginger"

Let's see now, would that be a 5th or 6th grade education? The Awake always seemed to me to be on a "Junior High School" level. Anyone who thinks they can gain the equivalent of a college education by just reading the Awake magazine over a period of a few years is severely misguided.

Junior High level was being very generous.

Several active JWs that attend the meetings and post on JWD received bound volumes for 2005 and there was no announcement that they had been discontinued.
