I wish he would call back his feminine half--shechinah and get some softening, though.

Who is shchinah? Would that be a kabbalah thing? Just wondering, it's new to me.

Oh and my opinion of Jehovah...

That is just another name that people have used in the past and continue to use to call on God.

I look at it like this:

I have met lovely fundamentalist Christians and I have met some that I think are downright batty. They bear the name of Jesus Christ. Does my opinion of Jesus depend on the people that bear his name? Nope.

Does my opinion of Yahweh/Jehovah depend on the people that bear his name? Nope. That God is both very vengeful and forgiving. Just my opinion tho.

Hi MINI! It's been awhile, I hope you and your Mom are well. After having read: "Who Wrote The Bible" by Richard Elliott Friedman and "The Bible Unearthed" by Israel Finkelstein and Neil Asher Silberman my opinion of Jehovah is that he was YHWH to only one of the many different views that the Jews had. He was a different god to different groups at different times in the history of the Jews. The Hebrew Bible is really only a history of the Israelites of times past.

God, who is he? Do you know? What is your opinion,I would like to hear it?

He is either a capricious and vengeful deity or a part of a plan to use people's faith to manipulate their behaviour.

Hallo Min... well, since you asked, and since it is something I have been spending half my life thinking about ... this is where I am at on my spiritual detox program.

"I'm Glen, and I haven't had a kingdom hall meeting in 7 years".

Seriously, my view hovers among the following:

    1. Jahve the Volcano God, Midianite, amalgamation of monotheistic gods, successfully recapped from the work of Akhenaten/Moses... Aten/Adonai. Stuff like that. It just happened. We created God.

    2. He doesn't exist. No gods. Sorry. We are on our own.

    3. He's a spiteful, hateful, lesser/demiurge god, and the bible is full of his nastiness and i want nothing to do with that, no sirree. God the father, well ... along with the holy spirit, maybe there's something there, huh?

    4. I can't believe I made myself a wreck trying to please an archetype of the universal imagination. What a silly bugger I was!

    Oh.

    5. I think The Deity would be right pissed off to have his Divine Name mispronounced over and over again, despite a better rendition with Yahweh. The WTS kept it going, it was their trademark, they had to. Would you want your grandkids calling you by your first name, a bit rude I'd say.

If I had an opinion about Jehovah, it wouldn't be fit to post here. It would pummel the Posting Guidelines.

The WBTS Jehovah is pretty scary and loveless, and I wouldn't want to live in his paradise. I don't think I've ever known the real Jehovah, IfTheresAGod.

"Jehovah" always scared me as a little girl. "jehovah" is always watching honey, so you better be good!" I'd be like "damn, even when I gotta take a dump? Ugh!"

Hold on.......channeling.......my young self growing up with Jee-hoover as an ever-present, petulant, ill-tempered schizo who held major influence with my parents, grandparents and extended family......He was capricious - threatening Abraham with the sacrifice of Isaac and the next minute - a Las Vegas Jewish comedian - "just kidding, fer Chrissakes! - get a grip!" How on earth did we take Him seriously?

Ahhh, Jee-hoover, we scarcely knew ye! You clown!

The god of the WTBTS was a powerful deity looking for a reason to squash me. He was an insane deity running around up there saying "Go ahead, make my day" I was never good enough for him.

Jesus the God of the Bible is very beautiful, loving, full of grace and mercy. He gives me unconditional love and forgiveness. He loves animals, adores children, and delights in every little thing about me. He meets me where I am and changes what needs changing in me, for my own good. He fills me with joy when I should be stressed. He gives me peace when I should be crying.

He loves me just the way I am.

Romans 8:35-37 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter." No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
