Can you be disfellowshipped for missing the Memorial ?

  Arthur Thorn was disfellowshiped for not attending the memorial in 1974.

  Arthur was my old study conductor. He was too ill with cancer to attend so had his own little ceremony at home and was disfellowshiped forit. He had already antagonised the PO by refusing to become an Elder (Elderships were handed out like ice cream when the arrangement™ first came out. Arthur believed it a more democratic system but was too ill to accept 'the honour.' He was highly educated and always under suspicion).

  I knew of people who missed the memorial on purpose and on accident and nothing happened to them. For those who missed on purpose, they got counseled - don't you think it shows a lack of love for Christ and the ransom to miss this time. From what I understand they talked to him further and he further and later he was PR but never DF'd. He said the reason he was PR was for a bad attitude. But again, I have never heard of the specific reason someone got DF'd was for missing a memorial. As for the case of the Aussie who did get ax for failure to make the memorial, sounds like they were looking for a reason to DF the guy. So I guess that would be the question you need to ask yourself, are they looking for a reason to DF me.

  Come On, they are so crowded that night, so busy handshaking the firstimers and trying to be nice to the "Memorial Saints" who turn up once a year only, they are unlikely to miss you. Anyway , it is not a d/f offence.

  Of course if anyone said that they missed because they disagreed with the ceremony or re calculated the date, then that would lead to interesting discussions and maybe , you know what...

  Basicly what it all boils down to is that if they want to disfellowship you they will. They don't need a reason, they'll just get some elders together to tell some lies about you, there's nothing you can do to prove them wrong, then poof, your disfellowshiped. Remember this is nothing but a high control cult.

  Yes, I should have mentioned that it is not likely that anyone would be disfellowshiped for simply forgeting to attend the memorial or any other gathering of the clan faithful.

  If you are just a dub then the the BOE won't notice much

  It depends on high up the ladder you are. If you are a ministerial servant you will get demoted back to a dub. If you are an overseer you will be DFed unless you have a good reason - like your wife dying

  I can't imagine attending that rubbish, sitting and watching the frauds drink wine . How repulsive and offensive. Let christ celebrate his own death because evidently it was his father who killed him. BOOK 'EM DANNO!

  Never heard of anyone being DF'd for missing any meeting including the memorial. Not even for missing all the meetings. And that is over 50 years life experience.
