This is amazing, one of my cats likes to lick and chew plastic. All this time I thought she was a freak of nature.
It worries me that she might swallow some of the plastic and get “plugged up.”
UncleBruce, she looks like my kitty. It is sad when you lose a pet, they are great they love you regardless of your beliefs. :)
Dang Unc, that little kitty kinda looks like Hitler! I wish I coulda been there watching you teach it to climb a tree and how to breed and stuff.
I was told by my vet that the worst thing is to give real tuna to cats. Tuna is addictive to them.
Mrs.LadyLee. What was the REASON tuna was said to be bad for a cat other than addiction? If it gets addicted to Tuna...s'ok. I buy the cheap kind.....not the charlie tuna sunkist kind. She hardly ever gets gas either.
I did buy Tuna with egg flakes for a long time as this was the only kinda wet stuff she liked.....then one day decides she's too good for it so I gave in and gave her real tuna. Now the dog gets jealous and I hafta make sure I give her a tad too......just a tiny tad.

The 1990's were wonderful years for me. I'd come home tired from a long day and have three quiet gentle women there to pamper and one bad ol' putty tat! Hey gumby - breed'n was against shelly's religion (I got her off death row). Here all cats and dogs must be micro-chiped and if they're from the pound they are de-sexederised.
I think maybe you should all get dogs instead, that should fix your problems ;) hehe
This is a pic of the semi-stray furball that keeps busting into my house...apparenty his name's Cautious & he's 11years old...I can also tell you that he likes tuna, and scratching his claws on my sofa x
Frog - he looks mad, did you just tell him to stop using your couch as a scratching post?
Gumby - the no tuna rule from my vet was because it can cause them to have some kind of organ problems (I cannot remember if it was kidney or urinary). The vet said it was too rich and they cannot break it down and that is why you give them the fake canned cat tuna. But if your kitty is fine with it then I would guess that is not an issue your cat.

Mindy Bough, veterinary technician for the ASPCA Pet Nutrition and Science Advisory Service, dishes out the facts on this savory feline fave:
"An occasional tuna treat for your cat is generally harmless," says Bough. "However, if a large part of the cat's diet consists of tuna--or if the cat is fed tuna exclusively--some problems are likely to arise."
Tuna does not contain significant amounts of vitamin E, for example, so too much of the fish can lead to vitamin E deficiency, resulting in yellow fat disease, or steatitis. Symptoms include loss of appetite, fever and hypersensitivity to touch, due to inflammation and necrosis of fat under the skin. Felines who are fed too much tuna can develop other nutrient deficiencies, too, because most de-boned fish are lacking in calcium, sodium, iron, copper and several other vitamins.
Mercury, frequently present in tuna, also presents a potential danger. "At low levels, this may not be a concern," explains Bough, "but if tuna is fed nearly exclusively, it could pose significant problems."
The bottom line? "I recommend premium commercial food for domestic cats," Bough says. "These foods are formulated to meet all of a cat's dietary needs. Then you can feed an occasional tuna treat for your pet's enjoyment. And remember," she adds, "no more than five to ten percent of a cat's diet should ever be table food."

Cats always look pissed.
Here are my two kitties....

Elsewhere, your tabby does not look pissed, - looks like he is saying "you people are freaks!"
