There's an old Sumerian writing were ones of the God's, Enki or Enlil can't remember which one gets pissed at the humans and confuses the languages. This is where the tower story comes from. Also it's worth mentioning that all the languages in the near East are related just like many of the languages in Europe came from Latin. No evidence of a dramatic changed in the languages people spoke back then.
