My super-dub mom called today -- we chatted for a minute and then she said, "oh, there's something I wanted to talk to you about." here it comes, thought me. "I wanted to tell you about these great socks I bought!" huh??? socks??? she proceeds with the sock description and then tells me "i love you so much -- just wanted to say hi -- have to run now -- talk soon!" but wait!!!!, I wanted to say... where's my invite? I thought she said she loved me? :)

Maybe she got so excited from the good socks that she forgot about the Memorial?

I have heard that after really good socks a woman can become a bit disoriented...they become euphoric and tend to become less able to pay attention to details for a while.

I had a similar experience.

I phoned my mom last night just to see if she'd invite me. She's been silent on the Memorial every time I talk to her.

We talked for about 45 min last night before she even said anything - and then it was to tell me my sis might not be able to go because of sickness and may have to have the phone hookup. Didn't ask if we were coming (we've gone to her hall the last three years), didn't ask if we were going to our own hall, nothing, nada, zip!

I didn't get an invite either. I think I'll go anyway and drink all their wine and eat all their cookies.

My sibling called and I thought it was going to be an invite, and he was merely calling to tell me he was making cookies for my pets.

However, someone from their Hall called (a family we've know 20 or more years). I had called the sister several months ago, as she lives out near me, to ask her if I could stop by and look at some extensive landscaping she had done to her place. She did not call me back and yesterday explained that she was calling back after all these months to tell me that I could stop by anytime I wanted to and that, coincidentally, the Memorial is tomorrow night at such and such a time and such and such a place. I thanked her for her thoughtfulness, hung up, put on my horns, black velvet robe and began to dance around the pentacle, wringing my hands together, laughing "Muhahahhahahah! Muhahahaha!!"

(I feel guilty saying that.....)

I did got an invitation: from the same person who invited me 3 years ago, I did'nt accept .

I told her during our conversation that I am going to have long-staying guests: my brother is going through a divorce and his soon to be ex-wife, changed all locks on their house. so he and his new girlfriend (for the last 2 years - since he was already living separately due to his work) needed a roof...

She told me that I was thinking (and acting) apostate......

I only wish I could say the same about my parents. They raised me out of bed on Saturday during field service to invite me.
